Hello I want to start small businness from Slovakia. I coded in Java some shareware: Energy Diary for calculation of energy expense and income. It is for USA market in preference, because contains food db from USA. DVD Catalog - catalog of all DVD with possiblity to gain info from imdb.com possibly other appps for home I want to sell this software on internet, but I have no experiences with that. Next problem is my location a lot of services is not possible to use here in Slovakia. And I don't want to spent a lot of money to start businnes, beacause I am not sure with success. I made web page where is possible find info about this programs (presently EnergyDiary). I found some free host www.unlimitedmb.com I created code for registering my application What to do next? 1. register domain ? 2. change my free host provider to paid host? 3. how to sell it? Paypal is not applicable in Slovakia. Do you have some experiences with sending money by checks in this region. Which buying service is the best for this region. 4. How to provide advertising for my products? Is somebody here from my region who knows answers on my questions? How began you? For payment, you can use Plimus.com , Swreg.org or Regsoft.com which could handle it for you. At the end of the pay period, they can send you a check or do a wire transfer to your bank account. Yes, you will need to register a domain name and get a hosting. After that, you can submit your site to the various shareware repository such as upload.com, tucows and so on.
This is not the exactly the palce you can find answers on shareware specific questions. I (as a shareware author) advice you to find an appropriate community of shareware authors. If you speak russian, I recommend you www.swrus.com, its wiki, discussion groups etc. If not, try www.asp-shareware.org and www.oisiv.com. You will find everything for a shareware author there. The communities are very friendly to newcommers and are always willing to help.
I suggest you start promoting your applications in the profile websites ( download.com, softpedia.com etc ). I am using for this a special tool named Promosoft, I posted a review in my blog about what I think is Best software submission tool, Promosoft.
I have Promosoft and find it useful and for a quick job. I prefer it over Robosoft but I find after several product submissions in succession it really slows down my computer and usually cashes so I have to start it again. Brad
You may check digitalriver also. They help software developers to sell their software. And they handle all payment issues.
