Selling phpBB forums

I know you're not allowed to sell phpBB to anyone alone but what if i created a skin/template for it and sold that. Can i do that..i guess it would be modifying the phpBB looks and then selling that phpBB with a new different look.

 

if your creating a custom skin for phpbb and its all your original work, i don't see why you cannot sell it, its yours, right?

 

Where did you get the information that you're not allowed to sell your own PhpBB forum?

 

You are allowed to sell a forum.

 

I dont mean like opening up your own domain and forum and than later selling it. I'm talking about creating a directory of forum skins and selling them but when you sell it you give them a new skin, header, footer, graphics, etc. and also already categories created in the forum. So you give them a zip file with all the phpBB files, your theme already there and a database that already has the categories created.

 

Thats fine as you would be selling your work and effort, and the phpBB files come included free for ease of installation. Its similar to people who sell packs of free wallpapers or flash games, they charge for collecting and compiling the package.

 

I was once told that you cant resell forums phpbb because it was free.

 

he is not selling the forums, he is selling the theme the forum is wrapped in, which is ok if he created the theme.
