Selling on eBay isn't what it used to be.

I've taken a break from selling on eBay for about a year and a half now and things have definitely changed. It seems as if sellers have ZERO control over their transactions - feedback extortion, negative feedback with no ability to respond to deadbeat buyers. I've had two customers email me 3 days after their purchase (made on a weekend) asking me why their package hasnt arrived yet.

"Because mail doesn't move on the weekend (you f*cking idiot)."

7 years on eBay with excellent selling practices and I think this may be it for me.

Sellers barely have any control over anything in ebay nowadays... they give more priority to buyers... buyers can go and leave whatever feedback they like giving and sellers has to go through all the sh*t to get it removed... from my personal experience.... aahh, ebay s**ks...

I give up selling on ebay due to reasons above. How can a buyer leave negative feedback and the seller can't? How can one negative feedback affect your products ranking in the search results when you have thousands of positive? How can ebay take final valuation fees, then paypal take fees aswell?

I been using ebay for it classified section....I haven't sold a product on ebay for years.
I just milk them for the traffic and funnel that traffic to my website.

Yea ebay has run its course for making good money on especially now that they are bringing out the permanent free listings, this will make it far too competitive to make money with.

Ebay are for scams. Too much fake stuff being sold on ebay. Plus they charge crazy fees and it keeps on increasing year after year. Well I now I sell my stuff on craigslist.org, oodle.com, 123exchanges.com, since they're free. Nothing is better than free. :)

Ebay is a great tool but like all tools it has limitations and it gets duller with time .

This is really bad news to hear for me.
I haven't sold anything on ebay in close to 2 years but have been working on some stuff lately to get back in the game.
I guess I'll give cragislist a try. But isn't craiglist only to sell items locally (within your city)?

Yes craigslist.com, oodle.com, 123exchanges.com are websites you only can sell locally but they're free. If you want to sell nationally, you definitely have to pay some fees usually around 10% of the sale price. Selling local has its advantages like you can avoid shipping fees and you get cash immediately. Try selling locally first if you can't then try posting on amazon.

There are no real deals on ebay anymore. You pay full price for some used crap in someones basement. I've used kijiji for most of my local shopping, and if I can't find it or order it in directly from a distributor, I resort to buying off of ebay for ridiculous markup on price and shipping. It was cool back in 2000.

The problem I had with eBay was I sold and item for almost $800 got the giant fee than the buy says sorry i thought it was a different model backed out i still got the fee and than had to realist it again and got hit with the same fee for selling it the second time. Worst off after i shipped the item internationally cause the second buyer didn't read I only ship nationally after he got it he told PayPal he never revived it so they took the funds out of my account after I withdrew it so now I am -$750 in my PayPal account.
Even with tracking it only says it made it to the country and that's it.

eBay's golden days are long gone. Most people starting out on ebay these days won't make a buck. Donahoe turned it into a short term milking cow, taking away as much from sellers as possible with little to no regard to long term financial well being of those sellers.

Ebay and paypal are nothing but thieves and if they are not trying to rogue you out of money by holding your hard earned money for no other reason than "because we can" Then they are giving your money back to scamming dirty thieving F$%&$rs. And like mentioned it is full of fake crap. You cannot compete with people selling fake shit. it is not possible. Oh had one of my good ranking websites ruined by paypal and their bullshit. Cant wait to see the dictatorship go out of business.

To be honest mate, you get that with any retail to the general public, not just ebay, in fact its worse off of ebay. I get too many customers who miss out parts of their own address or simply type in incorrectly and then the day after you have shipped their item and confirmed the shipping, they then tell me their house number is wrong or something, haahaha I have to politely email them back and tell them that they don't know their own address and/or are mentally incapable of remembering where they live.

Oh and as for the weekend postage thing, I once had a customer order from me in the UK to his home in the Netherlands on a Friday, I posted it the same day via air mail (so a week would be reasonable amount of time to wait for delivery) and on the Monday he was going mental telling me that he is going to stop his credit card as it doesn't take an airplane 2 days to fly from the UK to the Netherlands to deliver his parcel!!

Trust me Ebay make it relatively pleasant for you, the worst thing about ebay as a seller is Paypal, as the buyer can basically rape you whenever he or she wish's by opening a dispute/chargebacks, even if its a bare faced lie, Paypal will give them their money back, daylight robbery!

its getting harder and harder to even file disputes/chargebacks (some banks) I guess banks know this as they do not want
to deal with disputes/chargebacks as they loose interest money when they have to return the money, or whatever reasons
they have. I bought some type of WP article directory mod for wordpress, and it was total crap, full of bugs, failed to
load most days, so I explained my story to googlecheck and that I wanted a refund, because this is total crap, well they gcheckout
emailed the seller, and the seller just went on this rant saying I just wanted to steal his software, whatever, create quality software,
so googlecheckout tells me to get lost, so ok, I go to my bank, and tell them to story...now I am complaining to my bank month
after month because I do not see this resolved...bank has nothing to say, about six months later, I say, process my refund
to close my bank account right now, and we will part ways...they finally gave me the refund. Its a damn shame that I had to
threaten my own damn bank and go to this much trouble because they wanted to protect some unknown merchant rather then their own client.

my wife also got screwed by kmart with a double charge, the bank said she bought the exact same amount of merchandise like just a few
min part, and kmart said they investigated with no errors, so again my bank told my wife to screw off...we never did get a refund
from what I call the K-Mart Customer Special Scam....lets ring you up twice, charge you twice, then send you packing....

I heard from my bank that they are under no obligations to issue refunds on certain purchases....so as the years go by, then you
should expect your bank to protect you less and less depending what you buy offline and online, so do not expect them to come
to your rescue all the time. I had to threatn my bank to get my money back...it may not work next time.

I did end up closing my account. they did not even as much ask me why I was leaving, or why I was not satisfied.
they showed no emotion at all that they even cared one little bit about losing my business.

    Good luck TDBank.com
