    G'day There

I am a bit new to Ebay, however I am looking to get rid of a whole heap of items, so before I just start listing them, I want to work out the best plan, in order to maximise visitors and prices, and to fees and costs.

My first even ebay item, was my girlfriends old lemon of a car. I created a bit of a funny listing and managed to get over 5000 visitors to ad. You can view the listing here if you like. Buy My Girlfriends Lemon.

It was the first item i ever sold on ebay, and I was told that 5000 visitors is quite big, so I am hoping to do something similar this time round to attract attention.

What I am planning on doing, is having one main item, which is going to be a pair of jeans. I am going to focus on marketing this pair of jeans, in a similar way to how i marketed my girlfriends car.

At the same time, I am also going to list a number of other items, including used men shoes, ladies shoes, various ornimental peices etc. In total I am probably going to have 30 items to sell.

So I am after some advice from experienced ebay sellers as to the best way i can go about it, as I dont really need the stuff and I was considering throwing them away.

    Q. Should i list a reserve price or not? Is it cheaper to sell without a reserve price? Is it more appealing to buyers not to set a reserve?

    Q. Does my method of having one main item, which i hope to market and attract traffic make sense? I am hoping that people like my main listing, and check out all my other listings.

    Q. What are Paypal Fees. If the item sells for $10, do i recieve $10 minus Fees, or does the buyer pay $10 + Fees?

Any other tips or suggestions for selling on ebay.

    Cheers

    Jake

I would say 5,000 visitors to your FIRSt e-vah eBay item is pretty darn good, mate. I would venture to say, you need to give others advice. You are doing pretty good. The LEMON CAR ad was well done!

1.) I would say setting a reserve price on your ads, can deter some away. But it varies. If you do your due research, market well, drive traffic to your listing, price right, etc. Reserve should not be an issue.

2.) Yes, there is a fee for setting a reserve price, but its not much.

3.) Yes, there are Paypal fees. Again, it varies. Many eBayers use Paypal, i always use it, and only buy items that accept Paypal. It is simply faster a payment method. Plus it is secure.

4.) Should you market one main item? Im not following you on this. All items will have a seperate listing, but you can MARKET one main page, be it your eBay store or one main listing.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck! Market like you did the LEMON CAR, and you should do quite well with your idea.

    Q. Should i list a reserve price or not? Is it cheaper to sell without a reserve price? Is it more appealing to buyers not to set a reserve?

I don't use reserves and always start the price at 0.01. This way it encourages more people to follow your auction however with some items you should have a higher starting price.

    Q. Does my method of having one main item, which i hope to market and attract traffic make sense? I am hoping that people like my main listing, and check out all my other listings.

So you mean creating a few listings for the same item? It could work however make sure you don't spend too much on fee's

    Q. What are Paypal Fees. If the item sells for $10, do i recieve $10 minus Fees, or does the buyer pay $10 + Fees?

The buyer pay you the full amount via PayPal (or whatever) and then eBay charges you your fees monthly and deducts the balance from Paypal (or other payment method.

Any other tips or suggestions for selling on ebay.

Use good keywords in your title and include lost of images (use image hosting sites, not ebay hosting)

    Good Luck
