It says on the homepage that this site used to be Hoops9.com.

But Hoops9.com isn't pointing to this site. Why not?

Are you planning to sell this site then bring hoops9.com back to life suddenly?

Will you include Hoops9.com in the sale so the buyer knows you won't do this?

Actually hoops9.com belongs to the previous owner of the forums, and i think he transfer the things over? i'm not sure about that. The previous owner is still at the forum though, and i believe he is not going to bring back hoops9.com again. All of their activity is on kingsofthecourt.com now, so i tihnk they will not bring back hoops9.com. And all of the graphics have kingsofthecourt.com copyright info on them on the bottom.

I do not have the copy of the forum database, so i will not do that. Hoops9.com doesnt belongs to me. Hope this will clarify the situation.

Note: Sorry for the inconvenience caused, because the host is moving to a new server and a new nameserver (!!!!) .. So i think after the migration it will still need some time for DN propagation .... they say they will need no more than 24hours. I hope so :( ... Bad timing ....

Sorry no that didn't clarify anything.........

All I saw was a bunch of "I'm not sure" and "I think" and "I don't have" or "I don't own".

So in English... to me that means the owner of Hoops9 can do whatever they want and you can throw your hands up after the sale and say "you didn't know" or "you had no control".

Or did I miss a solid definite answer in there somewhere?

Ok, i will explain this again. I owned the site and forums now. I have the database and I am the only one that have access to it, not anyone. I, myself promise that i will not use the hoops9.com domain again with the database in future.

See, the previous owner sold this website to me, and i am the new owner as of now. I have the database kept privately since the ownership change. The previous owner told me that he does not have a copy of the database. I believed in him, but how do i know if he secretly kept one before the ownership change? The database is secure with me now, and i will confirm again with the previous owner that he does not have a copy of the database.

And to make the situation clearer, i will try to buy hoops9.com from him, and sell this together with this site if possible. But i cant guarantee he will sell it to me, i will try my best.

Update: this is the reply i got from the previous owner

Actually i understand the financial difficulties of the previous owner because he is still a student and he doesnt even have the money to pay the hosting bill for 2 months. So he sold the site to me. The previous owner doesnt own the hoops9.com. So you can see the reason why the admins and members will stay at this site after this sale, as they will not want to move to another domain name again.

However, I will try to contact the owner of hoops9.com can see if i can get the domain along.

If the sale ends up in my favor I'm not worried with acquiring hoops9.com.

I agree. Seems a bit odd, almost like the forum was fed and multiple accounts were created by multiple people to build it up. With this much activity I'd expect a lot more pages to be in the Google index.

The forums used to be hoops9.com but something happened (see above post), so the admin group and sig group people moved here. They imported the database of old forum.

You can see the activity of the forum is much based on the activeness of the admin group. For example mvp with 6K posts and goblue with 4k posts.

The reason of not being indexed in google is possible due to not the lack of backlink due to the site is quite new and the previous owner did not know anything about SEO (ie. they did not link to it and/or using sessionids in URL). But i think it is picking up soon, as it is getting more links now for different sites, such as other graphic tutorial sites and forums. I've checked the traffic log and confirmed that gbot was only starting to crawl this site lately (due to my sig link in DP).

From your post it sounds to me like they control the site and if they wanted, could pick up and move the database again.

I don't even understand why they would have access to such. The owner should be the only one with access to the database.

    Am I missing something here???

Nope. Because they were the previous owner. 2 guys started the forum and ofcourse they are having access to the database in the past.

But now im the new owner, and thus i'm the only one with access now.

Update: The admins were informed about the sale and they are willing to stay on.
