Hi I have a site about music stuff, particular Chinese music, learn to sing and play piano and many more. Recently I started writing 1 Ebook, and then another, but I havent put it up for sale on my music site. This site is 40% about me and myself (like a blog) while 60% of it is like learning and informational. I intend to sell the 2 ebooks, but because some of the loyal users really treat me like a pro or talented musician, i feel bad trying to earn $ thru all these internet marketing stuff... Tell me what should I do ? My initial motives was to earn $$ thru websites... and since now with my list of email opt-in... what would you do ?
Well, if people thinks you are good and they love you for what you are doing, I think it will not hurt to put up stuffs for sale, tell them it is for your site maintenance like for paying your hosting fees blah blah... or just be bold and go straight and post your books saying ebooks for sale... A good way to know if your visitors will buy your book is to put up a poll first, get their opinion and try to see how many people are willing to buy it, as them a question through your post and have people reply to it, try to make it look like you havent wrote the book yet and tell them to give their opinion if in case you decide to write a ebook. At least this way, you can see where you stand...
oh yes thanks modulecart... i have an active running poll actually, never thought of that. And 1 more thing, since the visitors who visit are below 20 or 25... i just wondered is the paypal solution good ? I mean that's my only solution. Which also means they must have a debit/credit card + sign up paypal, in order to buy my ebooks... My ebook is about how to remember lyrics... on "Don't forget the lyrics". Hmm..
Well, whatever payment collection method you use, probably 99% of your sales will be to people with a credit-card, you can't really avoid that. But they don't have to sign up themselves to PayPal to buy from you (as long as you have a verified account).
I think your visitors should understand you have to make money for your bread. So I think there is no problem with selling the stuff; the only problem I see is when anybody is trying to sell stuff which doesn't work and is not telling true about it.
