I am about to embark on a few project soon where my company will be releasing music digitally through all the major online retailers through a large music distributor. I have a lot of music industry experience but I was wondering if internet marketers had any things they had used to sell a lot of music online. Maybe something I have looked over in my marketing plan. Please give me some help on this and we can share thoughts on selling music online.

I am not going to be selling the mp3's myself. We already have a major distribution company who will get it to iTunes, Rhapsody, Wal-Mart, etc. What I am looking for is people who have had past experience and success selling music online and see what tips they may have.

Sonific - a free streaming music players widget that stream the song, audio and music to almost any editable web-page with , such as blogs, social network profiles, photo-sharing sites, or personal and even commercial corporate homepages, by embedding the SongSpots web widget flash player on the webpage. Musicians and artists can add their songs to the list for level of awareness and you can link it to amazon and itunes if you want to sell the tracks or albums. Unfortunately, they are officially offline since May 1, 2008.

Why not give others company offering free streaming music players a try?

Yeah the music industry is changing fast and with all the money in it I am surprised more internet markets don't take advantage of the industry going to almost fully digital within the next 5 years. There of course a few large companies (iTunes, Napster, Myspace) that have taken advantage but I think if someone can sell the music in a unique way then sky's the limit. What my company is doing now is about to put out an album completely digital so I am trying to come up with unique ways to sell the music as well as any traditional internet marketing tactics

I have a pretty good marketing plan using myspace, iLike, last.fm, facebook, and more. I was wondering if anyone had interesting aspects from a internet marketer standpoint.
