Selling listings to small businesses

Has anyone had any success they can share about selling listings to small businesses around town?

I am trying to think of the most effective way to market to them.

I was thinking of a post card with a follow up call.... any ideas on what would work?

This would be for a local biz directory, or for a national niche directory.

Advertise in the business services section of the local rag postcards might work but i doubt it

Before you start sending out postcard advertisements you should ask yourself what you do with them when you receive them.....

And then ask yourself if that is where you want your money to go.

Postcard mailings can be effective for the right business niche but I don't think it would be effective for the price range of a directory submission.

In order to sell a listing, you need to convince small business that they will benefit from it. You will need to advertise your local biz directory to public, in order for businesses to see some kind of benefit of listing with you.
