Selling free web hosting site, made $711. since April 07

I am going to sell my free web hosting site. Revenue is from Adsense, and I have made the following since April 28, 2007 until now: Totals 1,024,616 4,468 0.44% $0.69 $711.23. I have never spent money on advertising and I have over 4,500 sites that I currently host. Server bill is 180 per month, and other sites can be put on this server, as there is plenty of room. Licensed Panel is the software that runs it, as they are very good to work with and will fix any issues. PHP forum needs to be tweaked, as I do not have the ability to fix the forum, although it was well used. I sweep through the sites about two times per day and delete inappropriate sites. It makes quite a bit of money, I am cashing out and do not have the PHP knowledge to do this site justice. I will take $3,500. for the site. The server is paid through the 27th of September. All license will be pushed to new owner. The URL is very rare and was very expensive to purchase, HostAim.com and is appropriate and short name for easy memory. A free push to the new owner on namecheap.com. A person needs to build and tweak a sales page that will be conducive for upgrades to a paid server, which will make money on upgrades, I have never done that but know it would work due to the thousands of accounts that currently are housed on HostAim.com.

 

$3,500 for a site making no profit? Am I missing something?

 

I feel you are missing something. The site made $406.99 in August, minus $180. server bill and that is early in the life of this business. The site is getting more profitable as time goes by. For example, in July, it made $138.65, and in June it made $152.48 and in May, it's first full month, it made $72.25. So it is now getting established and continues to grow. Today so far the site has made $10. and there is 12 more hours to go. But, the short URL for a hosting name is a premium name, and last, over 4600 sites that you can convert to upgrades or paid hosting, then you have more income that way.

How many hours of downtime have you had over the last 2 months?

I have had 0 downtime. I have gleaned the server of stale sites that were never completed, I have gleaned about 2,500 sites or so in the past two months or so. I still have 50% capacity on the current server that I have from softlayer.com. It is very fast and I do not have any problems with downtime.

 

I'm still a little confused about the revenue.

If you have had the site since April and pay 180 a month for the server, you have spent $900 on the server, but you say you have only made $711 in adsense. SO overall you have lost money,

However, it appears that in August, you did make a profit of $226.99. (406.99-180).

So your price is based on the potential future earnings of the site, correct?

Also, I notice on your upgrade page you mention using a free coupon for 1 cent hosting on hostgator, but the link takes you to bluehost.com. Whats up with that?

 

I should take that upgrade page down, which does not work for this site, and it is a page that the web designer (Radu Trifan) made for me, that is what I am talking about. Someone with the capabilities needs to change that to make sales and upgrades, so the site is doing well with adsense, but could do much better with upgrades.

How often do you clean the hosted sites and delete spam sites and such ?

Want to make sure those sites are not trash

Do you have any ads on client sites ? I know you can't put adsense there but you can sell links and banners directly with advertisers
