Selling fake PR links.

Just curious because of a situation that has arisen in a forum which I moderate. Someone is selling fake PR links or at least trying to.

ebay has fake pr link sales on a regular basis. I wonder how/if they pursue any of those too. i'd think caveat emptor applies here. if there is no stated refund policy, i'm not sure what recourse there is.

 

Is there an easy way to find out the real pagerank of a site, and if it's using these methods? I saw nothing in the source of the page, so I assume it's an htaccess mod.

True, but he should have never thrown in a site that doesn't benefit the link buyer at all.

 

It's still misrepresentation. But I wouldn't want to be the lawyer trying to explain that to a judge who's never used the internet.
