Selling ebooks on ebay to gain affiliate commissions

Selling ebooks on ebay with your affiliate links inside and a link to your opt-in mailing list is a great way to earn commissions from affiliate programs.

Creating a short report and selling it on ebay is quite effective. Also if you give master resell rights to it and the ebook has decent content people will start selling it and they will be promoting your affiliate links for you.

Even if you only sell it for 1 cent you will earn huge backend.

This is a little more detailed for you. About creating interviews and viral ebooks that I wrote earlier this year:

How to create an ebook very easily when you are not an expert at anything.

You have probably heard this method before but with today's free technology it really can be a very simple process to follow. It is the process I used to interview Alex Jeffreys about the whole selling ebooks on eBay scene - I will be providing a link to it the end of this (sorry you will have to copy and cut it as I have not got enough posts yet!) But it is free and illustrates the point on how to make money selling ebooks with affiliate links through eBay!

(1) Choose a topic that will sell well. If you are looking to sell something on eBay then a 3 day subscription to their Marketplace Research tool could be well worth the small investment or you could dig into the eBay PULSE page to find some golden niches.

(2) Look for an expert in your chosen subject (I chose eBay but a non Internet marketing would work just as well, especially if you decide the follow this process word for word). Ideally you are looking for an expert that doesn't know how to market on the Internet or has little time or inclination to do so. This make it easy to create a win win situation, especially if you allow them to approve every step.

(3) Write some questions that reveal some juicy secrets. You may wish to send this in advance so that the expert you are interviewing can have time to prepare some answers.

(4) It's time for the interview. Now I was very lucky when I interviewed Alex as he has a conference call room in place that records calls. But some free options include GizmoProject.com, requires headset, that allows calls to be recorded, or FreeConferenceCall.com if you prefer to use a phone.

(5) Transcribe the interview. I did this myself and enjoyed it but you may want to go to Elance or get your children or neighbors to do it for you. Whatever works for you. You could always just sell the audio and cut out this part of the process should you so wish.

(6) Create your ebook. Add an introduction and about me pages about yourself and your expert. Now I have not done this yet but you will be seeing a copy of the finished product very soon. Once again if you prefer you can outsource this.

(7) Decide on affiliate links you want to include in the ebook to create additional revenues

(8) Create the auction text and design an ebook cover. I am going to write the auction text but will be outsourcing the graphics. If you plan to add master resell rights, it is a good idea to include the auction html to encourage buyers to sell on your product. You might want to create an additional web site to sell you product and promote that as well.

(9) Think about your back end selling and what else you can offer your buyers.

(10) List on eBay and/or make your website live. Sell it cheaply if you want to take advantage of the viral effect. Or maybe you want to charge a premium price and no resell rights. Your decision.

RINSE AND REPEAT with a new topic and another expert.

Would it not be easier to give the ebook away instead of selling it to earn commissions from affiliate links?

 

Either way, the concept is that Ebay is an awesome source for TARGETED traffic.
You can give it away or sell it, but nothing else matters if you can't get it in front of people...hence the purpose of Ebay. Pure promotion.

You don't even need to actually write the content. You can have others write the content for you. OR rewrite PLR content....however, I do not recommend using straight PLR content without rewriting it. It's a good place to start and can help you get over the overwhelming blank page syndrome. ))

Yes you can give it away. But you can't really give it away on ebay. Unless you do it on your about me page.

Also I have done this for a few different niches and have sold the ebook for 5 bucks and made quite a bit of money just doing that. Then the affiliate sales after are just an added bonus.

 

Ya you have to sell it away for a penny you can´t give it away on ebay.. But thats a nice idea though, good thinking.

Random thought.. Even better would be if you could somehow turn the people you gave the Ebook to into your own affiliates. I have heard of programs that allow the PDF to be edited (the affiliate link only) and then they in turn would also distribute the book...

 

Actually, from what I'v found out it costs money to sell any kind of ebbooks on ebay, because most people sell them so darn cheap.

 

Are you able to put one auction up on EBay with a buy it now link where people can purchase it multiple times from the same link?

For instance, could I sell 50 copies of an EBook in one auction?

 

I have done this successfully before (sell eBook dirt cheap but it has affiliate links and the buyer buys the item in the eBook) ... It's probably something I should get into again.

 

Yes, but you make much more money through the affiliate links IN the ebook than you do with the actual sale of the ebook on eBay. A secondary benefit is that you can also build your list for future sales. eBay really is a very cost effective way to "advertise" and build affiliate commissions and usually it doesn't end out costing you money even if you sell it cheap.
