Hello Everyone, I have been in the article writing business for quite some time now and have been making some good money from it. Within the last few months business was doing so well that I decided to start building a team of full time writers. The problem that I am finding is we're able to write highly quality content a lot faster now and there are periods of 30 minutes - 1 hour where a lot of my writers are sat waiting for work whilst still being paid their hourly rate. All of my business has come from finding private clients, but does anyone have experience with companies you can sell your articles to? What do they pay you and how many articles can you write for them? If there are any good companies I would use my writers time when they're free to write some articles for these companies. Thanks, CB
The firm I work for has their writers under contract,so no issue with writers sitting around. If they don't produce what we want, when we want we can break said contract. It's never been a problem thus far. We also have them doing other things as well as writing too.(creative brainstorming) Paying writers by the hour sounds very expensive, especially if you don't always have enough work for them.
If you're set on paying your writers hourly (rather than on a per-project basis), why not capitalize on their idle time? If your writers are indeed producing high-quality content, put them to work for you. Invest in a few domains, and have your writers create content for them when there are no other projects in progress. If someone on your team is a skilled niche/keyword researcher, you can also have him/her locate new niches for you to target. Since you're still paying your writers' hourly wages regardless, there's no reason why you shouldn't receive some benefit for all of their time spent "on the clock" - third-party client or not.
One approach that many web content writers take involves creating a website or blog. This website or blog is where they will post their articles or a summary of those articles. Readers have the opportunity to purchase the article or articles. Another approach you might consider is to visit message boards or forums where website owners hang out. A lot of website owners go to message boards to discuss the latest internet marketing techniques. Since article writing is an important component of internet marketing, there is a potential for you to make money on these message boards. Look for message boards that have a marketplace area or section, where you can sell your articles. In addition to online message boards that have a small marketplace section, there are websites that are devoted to it. These are websites where you can upload your articles and sell them. You have the ability to set your own asking price. This approach is nice, but the owners of the marketplace site in will almost always take a percentage of your sales. Usually, it's a pretty fair deal. You also have some freedom in how you want to sell your articles in terms of format. If you are creating your own website or blog, you may want to closely examine PLR article packages. Many writers offer 10 articles for $10. While this may not sound like a great moneymaking opportunity, PLR (private label rights) articles can be sold more than once. The buyers often rewrite the articles to make them unique. Whether you are selling your articles on your own website or blog or a third party website, you can sell for usage rights only. This is similar to selling your articles in PLR packages, but writers usually limit the number of articles they sell and they tend to ask for a slightly higher price. Some writers will request that the buyer keep their name as the author. You also have the option to sell your articles with exclusive rights. This means that you cannot use the article again. Due to limited usage, you will want to get your money's worth. Writers tend to charge more money for exclusive articles with exclusive rights. On average, these articles start at around $10 and go up to $50 or more, depending on the subject and article length. Those are both more passive means of making money writing articles. If you take a more active approach, you can sell your articles for 2 or 3 times the money. An active approach means that you do the work and contact a company or business with a website. Offer to write custom articles on particular topics that can help them attract more visitors and get better search engine rankings. These articles take a bit more research and care to write, but are worth between $100-$300 each. So, which approach should you take? Creating your own website or blog to sell your articles on is nice because you have control and you can retain all profits. With that said, time and money must go into making your website successful. Choose an affordable web hosting plan, as paying too much can hinder your profits. As for the domain name, choose a catchy one, but one that explains what you're selling.
