Hi, I'm sure this has come by many times. I'm starting to sell a new subscription based product and need to drive traffic to the site. I have a budget of about two hundred dollars per month to get things going. I know I should start a blog and generate content etc, but the problem is that I don't necessarily have a lot of insight knowledge on the target market, i.e. I can't write brand new blog posts that would be of interest to them. If my blog would only consist of links to other sites - would it be of any value at all from a search engine perspective? From what I understand submitting to link directories doesn't really cut it any more. Unless it's a big and popualr directory nobody sees your link, and search engines are smart enough to not do anything with the link either. Is this true? It is my plan to contact sites that are related to my target audience and see if I can get featured / do advertising on their site. I'm expecting to drive traffic through there. Other than that I can only think of doing some Adsense as well. Essentially I look at the list above and see that my options are quite limited in terms of effectiveness. Am I absolutely overseeing important online advertising / traffic driving tools here? Is having a blog with only links out a smart idea? Is it useful to even submit to a couple of directories or may I just as well forget about it? Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!
I don't think it's going to be worth creating a blog if you're only going to be linking to other sites. I would probably spend your money on text links and submit to as many directories as you can - start with the big ones but even the small ones count for something. You should also add your site to your signature in here, that will help a small amount.
