Selling ad space on a blog - which program?

    Hi there,

    Need some advice! :)

I recently changed my blog theme and the new one came with three 100x100 ads slots (on the top of the right sidebar). I now have to fill them up... and make a bit of money of course!

I'm already a member of Project Wonderful, which sell/ buy ad space. Works fine for me but I'd like to try a new program to diversify a bit. Any suggestion?

My blog is in the one in my signature if you need to have a look.

    Thanks a lot!

I want to know too.. by the way, does Project Wonderful work for you? How much initial bid do you put to advertise at your site?

@ Zhu - I would first consider increasing the size to 125 rather than 100 if you can as 125x125 is a more widely used ad size. As for cost, why not poll your subscribers or create a post to see what people would be willing to pay. Also consider your traffic stats and view other blogs to see what they offer.

@ Michael - I use project wonderful and at the moment I have no takers for my blog space that is priced at $1 per day, but I have been using the program to promote my blog for under $3 bucks a day and receive thousands of views in exchange across hundreds of sites. It def is worth taking a look into as either an advertiser or publisher.

Hi John, first of all, interesting site that you've got there! I wasted my dinner time just looking at some of the posts lol

I guess it depends on the popularity of your blog, doesn't it? I can put in $5 a day but if my traffic is only around 100 a day, nobody would want it...

Hey Michael, thanks for stopping by my blog and posting. Glad to have you.

Yea I mean you can set it at any amount you want, but if the perceived value isn't there, then it won't sell. I decided because I had to start all over and get my blog going from scratch that I would use Project Wonderful and allow my subscribers to tell me how much they are willing to pay for advertising on my blog. If 0.02 cents is what they want to pay right now then so be it. But I doubt it will be long before that price goes up.

Like Michael pointed out, Project Wonderful could be an option, but one could try direct ad sales as well.

there are several ways out there I personally like OIOPublisher.com there is a new one called showyouradhere.com which is another good one - centralize location

but I think oio is far more powerful

I'm doing well on Project Wonderful, but I'd like to diversify now. My bids at PW are 40c/ day each.

Is Adbrite much better than Adsense? What's the difference?

I've just held a contest to fill up the ad spots I was talking about at first and yes, I will increase the size to 125 x125. I didn't realize it was more common than 100 x 100!

Thanks for your advice... I was slow to reply but I appreciate!
