Selling a website that is monitized via paypal subscriptions

    Hi

I have a site which I have had an offer to sell. The website makes all of it's money from PayPal subscriptions (text links) and I was wondering what the best way to transfer the subscriptions would be should I sell the site?

eg. Contacting each individual person and asking them to cancel mine and re-sign with the new site's PayPal subscription.

Surely there is a better way.

    Insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

If you are selling through a text link agency, they can just add the new code

No, they are manually sold text links, where they pay via a PayPal subscription.

I have SOME experience with such a situation from back in the day when I sold my web hosting company.

You can't really "transfer" subscriptions to another member. If you'd like to make it a swift transaction for your customers about selling your web site I'd recommend just collecting the payments yourself and then sending the new owner a lump sum at the end of X amount of days. Those customers would eventually fade out (when they stop being customers) and thats it. The new owner would just use his own PayPal subscription link.

    OR

Have the new owner signup for a merchant account and tell the customers to pay via that account from now on.

I went through the same situation awhile back.

There is no way to transfer PayPal subscriptions. You will need to write up a letter of explanation and send to each subscriber. Then go into the PayPal account and cancel the subscriptions.

The new owner will then need to create a subscription link or button and then contact each person to reactivate their subscriptions.

That sounds sensible...though maybe contact paypal to see if they will help you transfer? If your a large client who pays them lots of fees then maybe they will!
