Selling a site – how does it work?

    Hi,

I am thinking of selling a website, not much traffic but somehow got itself a PR4, (a few links from all over the place).
But how does it actually work, (the selling, not the PR)?

Once I have the money how do I 'transfer' the website to the new owner?
Especially given that most of my websites still have at least a year of hosting to run.

Also I see a lot of users posting some form of statistics, but how do you double check them? Any screenshot could be doctored.

And last but not least, how do I make an educated guess for the sell/reserve price?

to do the actual transfer if you only have 1 domain name in your account, just give them the password. if you have several then you can push the domain name into their account. This would be done in your Godaddy account (if the name was registered with Godaddy).
With hosting you can also give them your account, or have them get their own host and move the files to their new account.

I am not sure I follow, why would you need the URL?

I am only curious how the selling process works.
If I decide to sell it then I would need to get all the info together.

But there is no point in me attempting to sell something if I don't even know how it is done.

ok, I made a few assumptions...
1st assumption if your going to sell a web site then I assumed you owned the domain name, if you don't own the domain name then skip that part.

you would just need to get your password and account name for your hosting company and give that to the buyer, that would be the easiest way to do it.

and if you don't have a site, and your only asking questions then your in the wrong place, this is for selling websites... Probably should ask your questions in "General Chat"
