Selling a script that isn't what I need - is it appropriate?

I was having a membership site built for me by a webmaster, and he suggested a particular membership script, so I bought it. He then wasn't able to complete the project, and I find the script, for my level of skill, not userfriendly. I've got my site set up using an alternative script which I can handle myself.

My question is, is it acceptable to sell the original script - just as you would a software CD with license etc? I'd basically hand over the script and also my login details for upgrades. It's not in use in any of my sites at all.

Not sure what protocol is there, and would appreciate some guidance.

    Thanks
