the website had like $150 in revenue anualy, it has 5094 total links,
it has around 5k pages and yahoo indexed 4300 of them.

a year ago someone offered me $2,000 for this website, i rejected hoping to get a higher offer, well im not gonna get a higher offer so im just going to say 2000.

 

So, you want $2,000 for something that has made "like $150" a year.

2,000 / 150 = ~13 --- This means that if revenue continues at that rate, it would take approximately 13 years to make back the price of the directory.

 

its not about the revenue, its about content, pr, traffic and indexed pages, u think that guy who offered was crazy or something? no he just saw potential, but your only looking for revenue, to be honest, i made the website and abandoned it approved a few hundred links a week and thats all i did, if you submit this website to other directories like it, if you make featured links and if u sell links on the bottom and add everyone who signs up(lol i was lazy so i kinda deleted 1k of people who signed up.) then the website can make:

3 in each category, over 100 categories, ($1 monthly, $10 anally) $3000(but not everyone is gonna buy lol, lets just say 50 featured links thats $500)

adsence: with more traffic(i noticed when i approve websites then next day everyone comes back 2 see where their website is listed so its double the traffic) 20$ monthly ($240 annually)

basement links:5 links 10$ $50

thats at least 3 ways to make $ on that website, if you work on that website, but i just make web stores and sell them at $99.98 i get about 2 orders everyday, thats $200 daily, but i have a generator, i written 15 pages that automatically makes websites, makes screenshots, makes HTML codes for adds and listings, and to make 1 website it takes me 10 minutes. i see this website as potential but it needs a little more work and then it will make a lot of money, if your an experienced webmaster you can see that. if not, sorry for wasting your time if you read this post.

 

And if you're an experienced salesman you know that you shouldn't attack your potential customers. I understand that a directory is not all about revenue but what you need to understand is that most people are not going to make an investment with a 13-year return period. It's not practical.

Clearly you can work on promotion and sell links, but an auction usually focuses on what the site has going on at the time of the listing. When I buy sites I look for things with potential, but it's important for you to understand that it's not only about potential because you need to find something with a reasonable period for return. Don't forget to weigh your directory's potential and cost against that of starting a new site. I'd be willing to bet that a moderately experienced webmaster would be able to find a premium domain name, purchase a high-quality directory script, and then use $2,000 to promote it, and would turn a much bigger profit. I'm not attacking you, your business, or anything else here. I'm only trying to call it as I see it.

 

sorry if it seems that I'm attacking you, but I'm just doing business and prices on things change, so there could be 3 times more directories by now thats y everyones selling it cheap, but if the business even has a return period, whats the point of selling it? whats the point of selling ebooks about making huge money? its all scams.
there is little on the internet witch isn't a scam, the more people know about your method of making Money, the more competitors you have, and your business makes less money with each person that does the same thing you do.

my dad wrote a script and made the top 100 sites, he made 300 websites witch contain 100k links on every website about a category, every link had a page and on it stats about the website, the business he made had annual revenue of 500k in adsence. but after 1 year, google noticed our edge.. we used broken keywords and banned our website, we had 5 different ips, and all websites were banned, now, we make 10k annually, lol what did we do with the money? parched 3 apartments. put 2 out for rent. it was great while it lasted, now we need a new business but my dad is getting old, if we took our business and sold it while we were still making money at 500k, we could have sold it for 2 million. life time supply of money.

 

In the webmaster world really it is a lot more about income than pages the search engines index. I could make a directory and have more indexed pages than you in a couple of months but my site would not be worth 2000 unless it was making at least 200 a month.
You might get 200 bucks for the site but you could get more or less.

if you type in add links free on google your gonna see my site first, and only 150 because i abandoned it lol, if someone actualy aproved he links and also sold the featured and front page links, this site could easily make 500 but im busy making webstores, it takes 10 min 2 make it and then i sell it for $99.98 i have like 2 consumers per day.

I don't want to affect your sale negatively. This is completely against my business ethics. But I just wanted share my honest opinion with your sale.

You ask $2k for your site. Isn't it?
You told that it makes $150 /year, approx. $13 per month.
You also told that it can make $500 per month if the new owner works on it.

Why don't you first try to make $500 per month from your directory and prove it to everyone, then ask $5k ? I think this would be a faster and more profitable sale for you.

There is a big difference between the past earning and the potential earnings you claim. Its return period is so long according to $150 per year.

 

ugh.. im done wasting time here y im not moderating it? because im 2 busy making other website that give me 9.98 per 10 minutes, i just don't wana waste this 4 year old website, maybe i should fix i up and repost it as 2k again.
