I purchased a virtual good using paypal. I found the seller's ebay page after I paid so there's no way I can leave a negative feedback. The virtual good wasn't delivered. It's by email and he can send it again if I haven't received it so there's no grounds to claim I received it when I haven't. I've already made a paypal claim and he responded to it in the last day before paypal automatically refunds me. Now paypal won't side with me cause it's virtual good. I paid just under £200. I have threatened to make a chargeback but the seller gives me cheek only so I'm assuming he must have something up his sleeve if he's not scared of a chargeback...? He chose to challenge me to make a chargeback rather than refund me, despite me informing him he may have to pay extra chargeback processing fees on top of the refund. I paid using my visa debit card so I am able to make a chargeback.
If you believe that you can perform a chargeback then go ahead. Being a digital item, you have very minimal to no buyer protection due to the nature of the product in which PayPal explains in its terms.
Strange, back when I was selling virtual items it was the seller that had no protection. Sad to see they changed their tune. Chargeback sounds like a good idea if you don't care about keeping your paypal account IMO - make sure they can't take the money out of your bank account/a different card after doing so
How much was it for. Chargebacks don't only get your money back, but they go on your CC record and if you compile enough of them your CC company will most likely shit can your account.
I asked my credit card company to make a chargeback today. They told me it could take 4 weeks to 'investigate.' If the chargeback somehow fails, what else can I do? Small claims court won't work as I don't have a physical address of the seller, who is stationed in another country. Is there some good websites where I can list the seller as fraud? I want that a** blacklisted so no one purchases from him! He's got several positive feedbacks on his ebay page, feedback from buyers who are ALL 'no longer registered users of ebay' for some suspicious reason... Is it true paypal charges a fee in addition to the credit card company who charges a fee if a chargeback is made?
