Sell proxies for how many times monthly revenue?

I was just wondering about how much a proxy site can be sold for. If it makes $300 a month and is growing can you sell it for 10 times the monthly income like a normal site. Is $3000 or $2500 a likely price for it to be sold at?

Some people are saying they should be sold for less because they are not as reliable to bring in future income. But traffic seems quite reliable to me looking at my referers.

The reason why people sell it so early is because proxies don't last long as they get blocked.

 

also they are sold as the hosting costs really burst up once they become popular & the abuse that starts after that..

 

It depends on how old the website is and how consistent the revenue is too. I'd say fairly new sites (few days old) would sell for around 2 months max revenue. Consistent revenue + traffic and PR will probably sell for 5-7 months max.

 

Thanks for the replies. It's much more clear now to me. I don't expect I'll sell mine as I think it's much more profitable to keep as I could only get 2-3 months revenue as mine is very new.

Well, you see that every day a lot of proxy sites being put up for sale but not all actually get interests.

I supposed that some proxy sites may last a few months or a few years so the buyer may just be taking the chance and hoping to cash out before anything happens.

Then again, some people are new to this business and just want into something which is the 'in' thing now. Some uses historical income to value future income which may or may not come true.

 

I had my site making 65$/month which was sold for 300$, nearly 4 months of revenue.

 

I'd say 2-3 months of revenue.

 

It amazes me, you see brand new proxies running a free script and a 99c info domain sell for $50-$100. Yet you try and sell a dictionary domain running a $150 script with $200 custom work done and ranking #3 for a 43 million search term and cant get a single bid for $60.

 

Well, proxies seems to be the 'In' thing now and it seems like some people just want to buy them hot from the plate. The Proxy is only good when it is new.

I don't really see how proxy sites can make money from adsense since only the initial landing page can have adsense ads and they are all quite just generic, most relating to proxy only. You are pretty much not allowed to place ads elsewhere.

Yes, I read your article and I did visit those Proxy sites but the ads are just not based optimized to the content of the sites I want to visit. Most of the adsense ads I see are for other Proxy or Proxy related sites.

Also if I were to click on the ads on the landing page, I will be taken away from the proxy site and the reason why I went to the proxy site is to use it and not go away.

After the landing page, there is no more ads and if I wanted to, I can spend hours or days at the other sites without first looking at the landing page.

I know that people do make money from Adsense for Proxy sites but I just don't understand why the adsense ads are clicked anyways.

 

Hmm, I can't think of a good reason why the adsense ads are clicked,
but adversal and adbrite bring in about 50% of my revenue.
Alot of money can be made with adversal if your user is surfing through many pages in your proxy!
