Hi everybody, I have been into online marketing for long now. And when it comes to selling a product, what I have noticed is people buy much more quickly when they are mentally prepared through informative content before they "actually" hit the sales pitch of any kind. So I wanted to know as an owner of a product - how would you choose to promote - Sell directly or Presell through quality content and then sell?
Yes, you are right. Preselling definitely has the advantage. Have you ever read "Make Your Content PreSell"? It is a free ebook and excellent for anyone who doesn't presell or wants to learn. You can pick up a free copy at http://mycps.sitesell.com/. Jim
Yes, I have read "Make your content presell" many times, but I think it's aiming at affiliates... I was referring to actual product owners .... People with their own product, who gamble with adwords when they can get better conversion with preselling ... Any views?
You are right that Make Your Content PreSell is aimed at affiliate marketers, but the info in it does "transfer" over to those that own their own products. Jim
Except you forgot to account for the consumer who types in "buy product a" It is one of the reasons Adwords works so well. If you were to look at it in the SEO SEM parlance SEO = PreSell SEM = Sell People who search in organic results (SEO) are usually looking for information, so this is where you presell. People who search paid ads (SEM) are usually targeted 'buying' consumers, so this is where sell should occur. Peace!
Well, I never said that Adwords doesnt work ... I meant the PPC gamble pays off handsomely for some and doesnt for the others (mainly newcomers) .... Preselling doesn't just apply to SEO but many other areas as well ... For example a well written informative PDF can presell very well and spread by word of mouth bringing it's owner a lot of traffic and exposure ... without losing any "dollars" in the process ... Not as fast as Adwords but definitely effective
