Hello, this thread is not about me advertising my services. I am thinking about starting a little program for packages on my server. For every package i sell during the rest of this month for thanksgiving. I am going to give back to america by choosing 1 needy company to donate 10% of the money i make that month to. Is this a good idea or not? I need some peoples information and input. I would be able to prove that it is being donated by asking them to post something on there site. If someone has any idea's if this would be a good idea i may run this all the way through december with it being christmas and jesus's birthday. I think its time someone starts giving back.

Donations to charity? Possibly a church or let the buyers choose upon checkout and the one with the most requests wins? Is this a good idea, if so we will start the plan in 24 hours from now.

If I were you I'd donate to the American Cancer Society or the Red Cross. I would donate to organizations that might need it more....

sorry but i just don't approve of the method of selling using charities, if you want to donate to charity then you need to word it very carefully or just go and fund raise in your spare time :)

Im thinking maybe since its around like christmas and thanksgiving more like a christmas charity fund for those who don't have a very good christmas. That is a good idea though. I am tired of seeing them commercials about like children with nothing for x-mas. I would like to help them as much as possible i know in the past i didn't have a very good christmas every christmas so...... i kind of know what it is like...... I may go that route. Host Parlor Cares:) We will prove that.

Well I would do it as a company, due to the fact that you could get something on your taxes.

Yes i am going to do it as a company, not as an individual. Maybe i shouldn't have brought this thread up as i can see how peoples reactions are going to turn out already by reading "xim"s post. "People are going to think we are doing this for a sales gimick"

sorry chap, i wasn't meaning to cause offence - i've just seen so many sites that sort of try and run a guilt trip themed to buying their services as it will help children etc, if it was done in a bright and positive way then i guess its cool, if you do any other fund raising things it might help to post about those on your site or maybe set out plans to do it every year? but the point of a sales gimmick was i guess what i was trying to say, it has to be done with a sort of decorum i guess.

i'm organising a road trip in aid of charity with a car club that i'm on, we're trying to work out the best ways in that it doesn't appear to just be a publicity stunt......

    where's my shovel....think i've dug a hole :p

Well with host parlor being up for only 3 months this would be the first one we would be able to run. I just figured its the least i can do to give out a thanks. I mean we have grown so fast its incredible. That is why we are willing to give back.

giving to charity is always important this time of year, I know Hostparlor would not be "guilting" people into purchasing. It's an excelllent idea. Most of the charities you donate will give you a receipt to use in your taxes, and depending on your corporate setup you may get to use all the donations against your taxes, it benefits you and the donee.

Do you have any proof or records to prove that you actually are not a fake charity? Not saying you are but you just got to be careful know what i mean?

After reviewing your site, if you can provide proof. I am willing to make a donation right now. It won't be big to start out with and i will provide something in my checkout box for donations to help.

Replied to your PM, but my donation page includes links to the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research that talks about my efforts. Also note that any donations go directly to them via their web site - i.e. I never see/touch the $$$ and 100% goes to medical research.

    Thanks for considering to donate,
    alek

Where do see anywhere that i am doing self promotion.. I have not one time said HEY guys im donating to charity buy hosting. NO im doing it upon my own free will without having people donate to me to donate to them. Go get more posts then come back and say something worth talking about. Quit using my thread to try an downgrade me just to get more posts.

    Respectfully
