I chanced into it from copy writing for a good, SEO. Then learned more from the boards and trial and error.
I was self taught while in school. Let me explain. I went back to school and the classroom was networked and they supplied us with laptops so during an Organizational Behavior class I was surfing and then hit View | Source in Netscape 1.1 and that was how it began. I have had some formal training through classes from Macromedia but most of it is self taught although the business degree did get the concept of arbitrage in my head about 10 years before it hit the forums and ebook world.
most of what i do now is self taught. I had a foundation from highschool which included pascal and java (not js real java). From there i learned jscripting, php, visual basic, some C++, and html (though that was more an afternoon..), learning css now. My skills at photoshop are totally self taught from playing around in it, i just discovered i can blend layers and damn can i make better graphics now! Also i've been learning SEO for the last 2 1/2 months
I learnt html without following any tutorials, one day I signed up for a freewebs.com account and put an advanced html layout on there and just took parts of code out too see what would be removed etc. SEO .. i'm ok at seo and i'm selftaught although I still have alot too learn. I think i'll buy some books..
As I'm fairly new to the world of internet I'd like to say I am being self taught as we speak. Hopefuly in a few months, I'll be able to post I'm self taught. With awesome forums like this one, I am learning a lot
self taught HTML and SEO and how to write articles about seemingly trivial things. is it possible to self teach PHP?
