Hello, I'm just curious to know how other bloggers out there handle self pingbacks. Whenever I make a link to an older post, a pingback is automatically posted in the comments on the older post. Should I leave it or delete it? I used to delete them, but now I'm not sure because they kind of leave a neat trail of what I've linked to on my blog. But on the other hand they sort of clutter up the blog. I'm on the fence about this if you can't tell. Anyone want to share what you do, or give me some pros and cons for going either way?? Thanks, James
I leave them because ppl who stumble onto the older post will be encouraged to click through to the more recent post to see what has been added to the topic etc. Not only does this mean more pageviews for you, it creates a richer experience for the reader. As for the clutter, sometimes a little theme re-jigging is all that is required.
yeah keep them..they don't do any bad..b'coz in the older post it's stays to attract all to latest post on that subject..also nofollow...
I had the same query recently devtrench, wondering wether to delete them or not. I decided to leave them because I'm lazy and they can't hurt. To anyone who does want to get rid of them there is a plugin here.
Thanks for this! I don't keep them, I have a related post plugin and also I will go back and link any related posts through current keywords if applicable. This has worked out better for me.
I remove them, i find them very bugging. I just delete them everytime i refer to a older post, so it's fairly easy. If I want to link to a older post i just edit and put a "UPDATE" thingy, it works much better, as many people don't even know what a trackback is.
