I disagree Firegirl, I think it's more about the way it is implied. I can joke around with my Italian mates calling them wogs (I'm Italian) but if some other dude calls me a stupid wog, I would find that offensive.

Great points... That's why the word still exists in every day language. It's apparently become pretty PC to degrade yourself if you are black. For instance, Eddie Griffin.. He is hillarious... By far one of the funniest comedians I have every seen. I walked out of a performance however because every other word out of his mouth is nigger... Pretty said when a Italio-American walks out on a black performer because every sentence is predicated by "nigger".

My roommate in college was black. While we were running for president and vice president of the student government I asked him why it was ok for him to say nigger to another black friend. He told me that they were saying "nigga", not "nigger" and that it's all about the context in which the word was used and how it was pronounced that defined it's meaning. To him it was more like, saying, my bud or my friend, my mate, etc.. when he said "my nigga".

Personally if everyone would just stop using the word it would likely die.

On another note, I had a poly sci teacher in high school that explored racism throughout history in one class. When broaching the subject of the word "nigger", he addressed that class by saying he had "seen a lot more white niggers than black in my time". In the context of the discussion it made sense. At that time the word had several meanings depending on the context. To him, the meaning of the word was "ignorant", and saying he'd seen a lot more white.... just made sense. In many ways, he was right.

Oh yes..........he is definitely an actor. No doubt about that. His on screen roles seem to be a lot better than the way he acts in his personal life.

Odd, I've never heard "wog", that's a new one on me. I've heard them all, or so I thought.. wap, dego, ginni, ginnidegowap, etc... Things like that don't bother me. What bothers the hell out of me are the people that say things like IIIIIIIIIII (I) (EYE) talian....

It's IT, ie, IT alian. Not EYE.

Beyond that the mots - a - rella thing is annoying too. It's mooots-arella
Ri Goat ta, not RI Cotta... I could go on and on with this one.

But like those that use the N word on a regular basis, it's just plain ignorance.

I'm thinking Jerry is saying 'fuck'...not because the reasons on the surface, but because his franchise will get less ratings and his checks will diminish....not that he really needed it.

Somehow I doubt that... Anyway, I already have the first box set... Got it last Christmas I think.. Finally started watching it a few weeks ago. Came with a napkin holder and ketchup and mustard bottle from MONKS diner. Pretty sweet actually...

Anyway, my guess is "Kramer" will get a guest spot on "Curb Your Enthusiasm". That show would be perfect for him. It's like that X rated version of "Sienfeld". Larry David is the real genius behind "Sienfeld" IMO.

You don't think this will dent Seinfield's ratings? I do. I just started watching a month ago, and every time I see Cramer, I think of him with a KKK hood on...lmao.

Seinfield and company,...they get paid on how long the show goes on as well. I'm curious to the ratings...how they're being effected.

Every time I see Kramer I think of him with that Pimp Hat on and that coat he got from the "Joeseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoats"... That was one damn funny episode....

I doubt if it makes a difference, seriously.... Hell my wife is always up on current events, and completely missed this whole Kramer thing... I told her about it last night and she was like, "wtf?"

I think the Dikie Dikes were hurt more by their off colour comments while overseas.... I don't like country, that's why I don't listen to them or buy their albums... There were in this months "PlayBoy"... Gee, I wonder how many people (like me) with prescriptions to "PlayBoy" just canceled their prescription because the dikie dikes where in there?

Playboy's different. Even those whom hate Michelle Malkin, would love to see her nude. It's much easier to dismiss a guy, because there's nothing of interest to look at.

Those who equate what the heckler was doing with what Richards was doing must have been watching a different video than the one I saw. And I think it is a helluva "big deal." Richards spouted more venomous hate in 1 minute than most let slip in a lifetime. He plummeted in a self-immolation of his own bile, and deserves what he has wrought. I loved him as Kramer, but loathe what I watched. Bye, loser.

Actually, he can't say "whatever the hell he wants." There are limits to free speech, and speech which by its very nature is disruptive to public order - "fighting words" - is one such limit.

I don't know, if it were me, shouting "Shut up! 50 years ago, you would have been hung upside down with a fork in your ass...!!" then proceeding to "He's a Ni%%$#. He's a Ni$##%^r.... you're a mother&^%$#$% Ni$$#^r!" should have been followed by "here's your ass, handed to you in a sling, asshole," and I would have backed the heckler.

This is a guy who had no business doing standup. He was obviously floundering, got heckled, and lost his friggin' mind. I have many friends in standup, and it isn't for everyone. He just needs to stay quiet from now on.

Yes, that is a double standard, but many African Americans do not use the term, and are offended when anyone calls them that, whether they are African American or not. What Kramer did is no different than Mel Gibson. He messed up big time. At least Mel Gibson is a bigger star, it will hurt him, but his career "may" survive. The career of Michael Richards probably won't.

Comedian called someone a nigger and we have a 5 page thread….
Why is he racist? Cause he called someone a nigger? I would only say he has an anger management problem. The guy was making him furious, and he looked at the way to piss him off just as much as he was pissed off. So in his rage he used words that he thought would work best, racial slurs…and it probably worked…(with some side effects)

And as was pointed out, he called that ONE guy a nigger, not all black people …as Chris rock said “there are black people and there are niggers”…if Chris rock (in the same manner) called someone in the audience a nigger 5 times, would there be a 5 page thread about it?

Convenient, but off mark. You've forgotten "50 Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass."

Why? Hecklers were lynched 50 years ago?

There was nothing conscious about his tirade. By saying:

-you are implying Richards was some maestro in control of his cool and the event. Couldn't be farther from the truth. He went apeshit, and the first thing that vomited from his craw was this heinous crap, betraying what he is in his heart of hearts. Even if it were true, your assumption of his "strategic debating tactic," I'll tell you what - next time you do something to piss me off, I'll be sure to bring your (you name it - wife, mother, or something else equally vile to pull) into play. Why not? "You pissed me off."

    I don't think so.

did you even bother to read what i wrote? so i implied that he is maestro in control of his cool when said that he was in rage?
so i said that he has a "strategic debating tactic" when i said he has anger management issues?
and yes, telling someone "50 Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass" WILL work if you want to piss someone of as much as you are pissed of

Yes, I did read it, Eves. In bold is what led me to conclude what I concluded about your post:

In other words, "I'm royally pissed off, and so I am consciously going to choose (or, to quote you, "look for") words that will inflict the most damage." In other words, what I said: a conscious design. Unless you mean something other than "conscious" by the use of words like "looked at the way to piss him off," or "he thought." If so, perhaps you could explain further.

Either way, I'm not sure how this helps your point of view: consciously leaping to these hateful words and abhorrent crimes, or unconsciously, betraying what resides in his heart. How does either make your point?

Perhaps I can clear up a bit more what seems to me to be patently obvious: "50 years ago" was directed to him as he was black, not a heckler. The definition of "racist." Now, "asshole," etc...but references to, as best as I can tell, violence committed against blacks "50 years ago," or, as some would say, "the good old days," well, that was abhorrent.

On a personal note, I think the media focuses way too much on one aspect of racism ie white racism. Rarely do you ever hear about racism from one minority to the next or one minority to 'whites'. It's as though they don't want to portray it's existance or that it's not PC to say others are racist as well.

The disportionated views of the media, like that, are reasons I don't respect them. Had the media been more honestly equal in viewing multiple perspectives, I would respect them more highly. Till then I view them as overly bias and potentially a 'tool'.

didn't Chris Rock go on Opera one time just to discus the N-word?

I would still like to know what Brainiac said prior to Richards snapping off at the root.

This was a simple recording, though, Rick; Richards did this, and no one else.
