Yikes.. That was just as scary... Minus the racial slur, it was pretty vile... AGS would have loved this guy...
Have you ever been to a comedy show/club? Because, comedians deal with hecklers all the time. There is a humorous way for comedians to shut up hecklers and make them feel small. But, Michael Richards got angered and intended to put the guy down in a racist and NOT comedic way. He should have just handled things as a comic and shut the guy up by coming back with wise cracks and jokes (even if they veered on the racist side....they should have stayed jokes and humorous...he crossed that line). To be a well-known comedian and an improv expert he did a terrible job of dealing with an heckler. I don't think Michael Richards counted on there being a camera phone watching his every move and his true colors were displayed. I don't think it's offensive for a white man to use the N-word, when commenting or making it comedic, but I do believe it is offensive and racist when its used in an agitated way. It's how you say it, not what you say. He used it in an offensive and derogatory context. It was wrong and distasteful!
He's dead unfortunately, 1961-1994. Further Reading section suggests: True, Cynthia. American Scream: The Bill Hicks Story. ISBN 0-283-06353-X. I recommend that to anyone, had me in tears at the end.
I agree. People also fail to mention that a special Seinfeld DVD is coming out this week. Coincidence or reality acting ?
I'm tired of listenning hatred talks between colored people (we will have to invent a new whole vocabulary so it changes), Kramer got pissed and said things that are so stupid...... Arf he destroyed the myth...
The career of Michael Richards is over. Kramer used to be my favorite character on the Seinfield show because he seemed to be the most creative and open minded of everyone. I can now see that Michael Richards is nothing like the character he once portrayed.
he was frustrated by that person, in such moments, you can't control what you are saying, probably he don't have anything special with black peoples, but he felt to say to that man something that will hurt him most.
frustrated/flustered/frazzled... was it the wrong things to sure - well yeah - duh.... too bad he didn't employ the Bill Hicks method of heckler handling
Yeah his career is shot now, these people have to control themselves. I mean come on, they know they are big stars and that this stuff will show up in the media.
**that doesn't make any sense....MR played the character of Kramer on TV, it doesn't mean that he was anything like him in person!! next you're going to tell me that Doogie Howser (Neil P. Harris) has the Gayness even though he played a straight hetro on TV
Ok, I want to inject something to think about here. I AM NOT POSTING OPINION EITHER WAY, so don't jump down my throat. I was wondering why African Americans are so offended when a white person says the N word, but then I can walk down the street and hear African Americans greet each other with "Hey N*****, what's up?" Isn't that kind of a double standard here? They are allowed, and it's perfectly acceptable, for them to call each other that, but when it comes out of a white person's mouth, it's racist? If the word is considered racist, then NOBODY should use it in any context. Do they send the wrong message to younger people that it's ok to use, because they use it themselves? Aren't they contributing to racism with this double standard? And you can't say they don't use the word themselves, turn on any African American comedian (Dave Chapelle for one) or just walk down the street and hear it everyday. So, just another tidbit to think about...
