"At one point someone in the audience yells back at Richards, "That was uncalled for you f***ing cracker-ass motherf***er!""

    I'd say they're very similiar.

HE can say whatever the Hell he wants, I know for damn sure the majority of the black race call white people racists, but when you call a black person racist they get pissed and call you a racist for saying they are. I mean God Damn they even go saying that the white people were behind new orleans they said that is was set up and that someone blew the levies to kill all of the black people. What the fuck kind of bullshit is that?

This is what Michael said. If I was the bar owner, I'd throw Michael out, and the fella in the crowd whom made the above comment.^^^^
    ----------------------------------

"Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass," Richards said. "You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now motherf**ker. Throw his ass out. He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger!"

When he saw no response from the audience Richards continued: "They're going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger."

In my opinion it has reversed and for some strange reason white people in america owe black people our lives for some reason. I mean when I was going to school I was told they didnt have any room for me because i was white. So Im sorry, But that isnt Racism?

And what race were they?;) I'm sure they didn't say it over and over and degrade him as he did to some people in the audience. I'm not excusing the the audiences racist comments towards him because they're ignorant aswell but all I'm saying is that what he repeatedly said was worse.

I don't think I agree with you on 'majority of black', but whatever.

I think this issue doesn't demand media attention. But since we're so internet hooked, this will go to the internet in seconds, and people will demand apologizes. Which he already did.

I blame the club management for not shutting up the heckler. There I said it.

I assume that if he would have never opened his yapper in the 1st place...it wouldn't have gone down that ugly road!!

yeah but I feel we are missing a huge context here....what was said by the heckler prior to "Fifty years ago..."

Richards told him to shut-up and then went on the tirade...he didn't just single out a black guy and start calling him names did he???

the Youtube clip is incomplete/biased b/c it doesn't show the entire set

Nothing that heckler could have said would make what Richards' said okay.

Slavery would be a start. And your continuous use of the word 'they' is racism in itself. I've known and do know a tremendous amount of African-Americans and African-Canadians, and I've never once heard the word 'cracker' come out of their mouth.

Well, I don't know the multitude of comments made towards him or the true context of the situation (he has a mic...they don't). He's on the camera, they are not.

I don't grade things on terms of which ones worse...the slope is all downwards to me.

A pox on both their houses.

    Well, I agree.

youtube is a tool. So yeah, I wouldn't base my whole opinion on a rather limited view of the situation. One doesn't really know what prompted the whole thing, but needless to say, Michael should have been a bit more quiet.

What if Kramer was up there yelling at a couple of Jewish heckelers, calling them dirty jew bastards or something... Would we see the same outrage? The only way to move forward in a world filled with hate, ingorance and racism is to drop the friggin stereotypes and move on.

Like I said, I've seen so much worse. I hardly doubt seeing Richards go on a looney rampage is going to emotionally scar people for life. If it does, we've not come very far in terms of breaking down barriers.

When you see something like this happen you just have to step back and think about other things... Things like how Jews in the US and around the world feel when the President of Iran calls for their extermination. You have to also wonder how people who are not black feel when a black guy starts calling for the extermination of the white race as a solution to racism... Yeah, that was on CSPAN recently. You have to wonder how Mexicans feel when the US wants to build a wall to keep them out. The guys a comedian for Christ's sake. He is not a world leader, certainly not a role model... Who cares. Don't like him, don't go see him. It's pretty much that easy. People get offended way too easy. Hell, I'm offended every time I see some mornic comedian get up and bash Bush, the war, America, and Americans in general, but I don't let it get to me. Who the hell are they anyway? Just comedians. Nothing more, nothing less.. They survive only because we give them air time. Don't give them the air time and the soap box to stand on and the problem goes away.

I've not heard a single person ask why "Seinfeld" never had any black characters in main cast... You have to wonder. Was it a Jewish thing? A white thing? See how stupid that sounds... Maybe the show was racist? Maybe Newmans with the KKK.... People get offended way too easy.

The funny thing is Kramer was back at it the next day doing the same act. I'll bet there were more blacks watching this time than the last show. How do we know it was not all an act? Andy Kaufman was the expert at creating controversy and complete outrage and disgust out of an act just to get publicity. How do we know that was not part of it? Maybe he's on drugs, maybe he was drunk, maybe he hate blacks. I don't know, and I don't care. I don't have to listen to him if I do not want to. Damn, look at Borat... If ever there was an offensive (all be it funny as hell) individual, he takes the cake.

People really need to lighten up. Life is too short.... Who is Richards anyway? A has been, typecast former "Seinfeld" actor.. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

    @ Mia

While some of what you're saying is entirely true (some is way off-base), it still doesn't make this kind of thing alright. No one is emotionally scarred, but no one should have to see or hear it either. Watching the video made my stomach turn, and I'm a white man from a distance. I can imagine being a black man in the crowd.

I don't want to stereotype here, but I'm betting every Richards' defender in this thread is American. There are distinctly different attitudes by white people towards other cultures worldwide, but white American racism towards African-Americans (your fellow countrymen!) takes the cake.

Because one is born (by default) white, you owe someone something?

I don't understand the context of this comment (above). I'm around 3/4's white. Does that mean 3/4's of me owes a descendant of slavery something?

The word 'they' in easymarkters quote, meant adminstration...or atleast that's an educated guess.

Im out of this conversation its pointless, racism will never end, it gets thrown on black people, then it gets reversed to white people, then itll get reversed back again and again and again. Just watch people ;)

You don't understand...No one does! - When you look at it from a bigger scope, they are both the same. They are words, and only words.

I lived in N. Ireland so racial tension is nothing new to me. I have seen a person kill someone in front of me (I was young) and a group of young kids because this one person was "associated" with a protestant in the wrong part of town.

I am sorry but what he said was nothing in my eyes.

What you owe black men in your country, all men everywhere, is respect unless they deserve otherwise. Respect entails not defending a blatant racist when he freaks out and generalizes against a group of people that number in the many millions in your own country! The 'N' word is disgusting, an affront to all men of any sense and dignity.

And his use of the word 'they' was in reference to black people in general, apparently throwing the word 'cracker' around indifferently worldwide.

I did say it was all right. What I saw was a raving lunatic that lost his cool. But hell, who in Hollywood has not done that before? There's a long list of nuts out there.

I'm certainly not defending him. The fact is, in America we have come further in a shorter amount of time than any country when it comes to dealing with race. Our loony moonbat left in the country is not indicative of the behaivor of the average American towards his fellow human being.
