i have a segate Sata HDD ... my system got shut without any warning as the SMPS seems to have an issue... but it this course i have made two partitions out of my hard drive... out of which one drive is asking for a Format... which i can not afford.. and the other drive seems to be working slow.. but i can still access the data. p.s.: there is no free space in either of the disks on my comp. can you please guide me a way to recover the data from that hard disk( 1st drive ) ..
guys... please help... p.s. My smps and UPS are also not working fine... as i read it somewhere that a software named spinrite could help me recover data... but does it really needs the system to be on for long ???
Spinrite is worth a shot. But it can take from a few hours, to a FEW DAYS - depending how screwed up your drive is. If you're able to monitor your UPS, you can postpone Spinrite (at a certain percentage), and then pickup from where you left off once you've got power again. Stop it.
nice to see replies coming i have downloaded spin rite ... it has several options... i try readin the manual... but i am not clear what is exactly to be done with that... which button to click to make it happen.. do i need to spare some space for the data to get copied onto an another drive.. or will it fix the crashed one and replace the data on that ??
You don't need spare space. Spinrite works "underneath" all your data. Just read the information on the screen. It's one of the most self explanatory applications ever made. And after it's fixed your drive, you should buy it
