I am creating my own local travel website which you may check on the domain www.aegeanvacation.com username: demo11 pass: demo11 and I am trying to fix properly the urls in order to be SEF. My main question is: I have this url http://www.aegeanvacation.com/aegean-islands/lesvos-lesbos/beaches/southern-lesvos-beaches/tarti.html The url is appearing the path that the user need to arrive and see the beach "Tarti" . Maybe I should make the url shorther and if yes, how you suggest to make it? I have some ideas but I dont know what is correct for search engines. for example: 1- www.aegeanvacation.com/tarti-beach 2-aegeanvacation.com/lesvos/tarti-beach 3- aegeanvacation.com/aegean-islands/lesvos/tarti-beach 4- aegeanvacation.com/tarti I am using K2 and Joomla 2,5 so the main url is being created automatically. If we leave the original url as it is, then maybe I will have problem with dublicate keywords such as "beaches", "lesvos/lesbos", and isnt it too much long url? Second question for the url of the companies that I include in my portal, now I have for example for the hotels: http://www.aegeanvacation.com/CHIOS/argentikon-luxury-suites-in-chios.html Do you suggest any better url please? Maybe it should be: 1-www.aegeanvacation.com/argentikon-luxury-suites 2-aegeanvacation.com/chios-hotels/argentikon-luxury-suites Thank you in advance all of you for your answers!
Hi there, I don't think the length of the URL matters too much in my experience. The important thing is that there are links directly to those URLs on your homepage. That way - the PR that you hopefully receive when people link to your homepage will be easily passed on to your inner page. The other important thing to do is start building links directly to the inner pages, using the keywords that you want to be found in google for. If you do any number of searches in google, you will see that often the URLs of the sites on the first page are quite long!
