Seems I've been penalised...

    Hey,

Thanks for reading this. A few hours ago when I routinely checked my SERPs I was top for my main keywords such as 'free summaries', 'most useful' and 'most useful websites'. I just had a little look again, and I'm not even in the first 3 pages...

I checked other articles, which all ranked top for their keywords. All demoted. Even when their unique titles are used.

I have no idea why I would be penalised, can someone help me with this matter please? None of my pages have been dropped from the index. I use no blackhat techniques.

This just killed my organic results and my goals for this month  any help will be greatly appreciated.

    My site is http://mostuseful.co.uk

    Thanks for reading

The same thing happened to me. However, I just continued to post unique articles as regularly as I could and I was back at the number 1 page after a few days :)

    Thanks for your reply :)

I'm hoping its just a glitch, like a datacentre crashed or something, which held the local rankings? :p

I hope it'll return in a few days, I've worked hard to get top for my keywords lol

Thanks for the optimism though, I need it! :D

It happens all the time, because Google wants to give an opportunity to other webmasters. They have created algorithms which gives other people to be found by search engine in the first page and sometimes in the first position too. It is just type of human rights. (Webmaster Rights). :D

Your site is relatively new this is something that usually occurs with newer sites if you
continue to build backlinks as your site ages you will be able to maintain that position.

well.. this is not penalisation. It happens to all of us. SEPR's are not permanant, they'll change from time to time. Improve your site and build some strong backlinks, it will be back :)

Yeah I dont mean to be "negative" but I thought this was just a glitch as I had been ranked very high for several keywords that were highly competitive and now has been a month and 2 days .. site got the "-60" penalty from google I believe! :(

From what ive seen and been hearing It happened to more people this last update then any other recent update.

And it happen to me also for sites that have been doing super good for a very long time i lost pr and traffic but my yahoo and msn results have never been better.

Ive changed the sits totally now and got more back links and changed whois and host ips, but we will see if it helps something tells me im beating a dead horse but who knows but alot wish they would change back what ever they changed.

You're not penalized, you've just been outranked. SERPs fluctuate all the time, you might be on page 1 again soon.

Most people refer this as Google dance, it is recommended all the time to have strong backlinks. Let your site more frequently cached and indexed you will secure to be on search results.
