Seeking Text Editor for web pages

I need a reliable text editor where I can edit just the text & not the code.

I don't like CMSs, so please don't even suggest them :)

I was going to use Contribute, until my web developer told me it doesn't work with external PHP files.

It would also be great if it could read forms b/c Contribute wouldn't read the form on the page & so once it got past the form, it crashed the page.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

My web developer said these are the same as he uses, where it shows the code. I'm looking for something that just shows me the text, or at the very least I can see what the finished page will look like b4 I upload it.

    Thanks

OK. Then you are looking for a WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") editor. The main commercial ones are Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and Adobe GoLive. Of these FrontPage is the least expensive and I think Dreamweaver is the most expensive. Dreamweaver and Frontpage both have advantanges and disadvantages, with FrontPage probably being a little easier to start with if you don't know a lot of HTML. Adobe GoLive is I think pretty much a distant third to either of these two.

There aren't a lot of freeware WYSIWYG programs out there but there are a few. Try some of these from a Google search.

In particular, have a look at the editors on this page: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/webpublish/fwwysiwyg.html
