Note: We're looking to pay between $1,000 - $1,800 for this project. If things go well, we always have projects that need being done and could engage in many future projects together. To contact me, please e-mail (do not PM me or reply here!). We have a fully functioning website with custom programming that we wish to add new features and improvements to. The site is programmed completely in Perl, and most of the code is well documented throuought and easily structured with modules and a templating system (HTML::Template). The site design is very clean and is XHTML and CSS valid. We are looking for a programming company that will be able to provide high quality programming and be able to comform to valid XHTML, cross-browser compatibility, and keep any new code well commented and "clean". Below is an outline of the 8 features we wish to be implemented on our site. For more detailed information on each feature, please e-mail (Do not PM me or reply here!). Please note that while the following list may appear overwhelming, the existing site is very well structured and should provide a helpful framework to work with. 1. Featured Networks Advertising System (Medium Feature) 2. Universal Member System (Major Feature) 3. Member Commenting System (Major Feature) 4. Improved Voting System (Medium Feature) 5. Front Page News Area (Minor Feature) 6. Templated/Custom 404 Error Pages (Minor Fix) 7. Network Details Placement (Minor Feature) 8. Search by Name (Minor Feature) PHP may be used for new areas/modules for various features, although it would probably be simpler to stick with Perl. The time frame for all the projects should be completed within a month, and in the order given. The changes should be made on a mirrored copy of the existing site as to not cause any issues, and then replace the current site once approved by us. Preferably, each project could be done one-by-one on the test site and then moved/transfered over to the existing site once approved.
It's my only rating. A guy who tried to cheat in a contest I ran a couple years ago gave it to me when I kicked him out of the contest for cheating. I have perfect feedback rating on all other forums (Just search for my username on NamePros, DNForum, etc.)
Ok thanks for clearing it up. I'll speak with my partner and I'll be in touch if this is something we're interested in.
No offense but do you have any idea of the server load you will see using Perl once traffic pours into your site? PHP is cleaner, cheaper, better on load, and faster. But, offer sent. We usually don't do Perl but when we do, we complete the task.
Do not do business with this person. The person was all ears until he found out that I have a female coder on staff and then flipped out saying it was nonsense for a woman to be coding. I blocked and deleted from my msn. I don't deal with morons or total idiots. Females are known to be more analytical and are just as capable to code as any man. This person disgusted me to the fullest.
I've never met anyone so quick to jump the gun... things were going well and we were joking back and forth throughout our conversation on MSN, and so I continued by jokingly commenting on the fact that his partner was a female programmer: 6/28/2008 5:17:50 AM Tyler - 24601 Some of the items sound a lot harder/involved than they actually are 6/28/2008 5:17:59 AM Tyler - 24601 lol 6/28/2008 5:18:04 AM Tyler - 24601 In the forum description i mean 6/28/2008 5:18:09 AM Tyler - 24601 yeah 6/28/2008 5:18:14 AM Tyler - 24601 Ex. And I'd like the advertising system feature to be done first as I have a number of advertisers wanting bad to advertise 6/28/2008 5:24:20 AM Tyler - 24601 Ok great Also my lead partner will ask me, will you have any problem with laying a 33% refundable deposit if we come to a contract? 6/28/2008 5:24:41 AM Tyler - 24601 refundable deposit? 6/28/2008 5:24:58 AM Tyler - 24601 If we go through an escrow service I have no problem 6/28/2008 5:25:05 AM Tyler - 24601 Yes, a retainer fee. Have a nice day. She is one of the most famous coders on the web. Your loss. 6/28/2008 5:28:09 AM Tyler - 24601 I was joking, but I can see you are overly sensitive so I guess this wasn't going to work in any case. Thanks for your time in any case. Cheers
