    Hi Everybody,

due to a recent virus my simple HTML Editor that I have used for close to 3 years will not operate.

I'm an aged pensioner and need to replace it with something simple because my computer knowledge isn't the greatest. Can somebody please recommend a simple HTML Editor?

I need something that I can type in plain text, click a button and Bingo! It converts to HTML.

All advice will be gratefully accepted and used.

    Cheers,
    Davmac

For this sort of thing, which isn't the proper or recommended way to do it, I will recommend the best tool I've found for it.

    Mozilla Composer.

Nvu will be recommended, but it's not actively developed and no good. Kompozer is alright, but Mozilla Composer is the best and is free.

Also, do check out the cheap CoffeeCup software, it's been around forever and it does a pretty decent job. Depending on the stuff you're making it might be nice.

Also, depending on the purpose of your websites, from now-on you might want to look into using something like Wordpress, which (once you get somebody to set up for you) is easy to edit and update, in an online editor that's about as easy as Microsoft word. This is what I recommend for all your sites from now-on-out.

    I hope this info helps!

    Thanks Rossdimasimmo,

Sadly all I have is a shortcut on my desktop that states "Free HTML" but the program has disappeared from my program files and even a search couldn't find it.

Now I'm angry that I did not keep a hard record of the name of the program.

I appreciate your very kind offer and hope that one day I can repay your kindness.

    Cheers,
    Davmac
