    yes i am using dp tool for keyword analysis but i need to know is it beneficial to use long keyword of short one as short keyword have high competition

    Well the most popular keywords will obviously have more compition as more people go for it, but you can go for the less comman keywords/keyphrases relating to your site as they are easy to get high listings for.

    At the same time keep building for the major keywords as well.

    Thats what I do when I start a new website.
