Seeking Feedback for U.S.P. for Service to Copywriters

    Greetings,

I am not a copywriter (though I am thinking about becoming one in the future). Currently, I am seeking to establish myself as an internet research provider for copywriters (and, possibly, directly for businesses as well). I am esepecially interested in offering my services to copywriters in the business and marketing field.

I would like get your feedback on the following "Unique Selling Proposition" I have developed. Please imagine that you are working on a copywriting assignment, have other important copywriting assignments on your plate. You receive the following U.S.P. from me in an e-mail. Would it pique your interest to inquire further about my services, or not? If not, can you suggest any changes that might do the trick?

    I sincerely appreciate your feedback.

The U.S.P. is: "If you're a promotion writer in the business and marketing industry and you feel like you're spending time unprofitably by browsing the web for data, I can help. I can take such research tasks off your mind and scour the internet to offer you comprehensive but *relevant* results, leaving you free to focus entirely on your high-value activites."

    Thank you again!

I will admit that such a U.S.P. would interest me. The big question I would have would be how would you determine your rate for this service? I'm not asking how much you would charge, but rather "how" you would charge?

I think it's a great idea. The quality and presentation of the data will be paramount, I'd guess.

No, it wouldn't interest me at all. The point of doing research is to learn things you need to know. What good would it do me for you to learn what I need to know in order to write what I was hired to write?

Sentences are too long. There's no punch in it. It doesn't reach out and grab me. If you plan on marketing to copywriters, then why don't you use 'copywriters' instead of "promotion writer in the business and marketing industry"? "high-value activities" sounds off too. Use more simple language. I don't want to have to read your pitch 2 or 3 times to figure out what it is you are offering me.

Something like...Are you a copywriter or marketing professional? Do you find yourself spending more time researching than writing? Let me do the research for you. You'll have more time to do what you do best and blah, blah, blah...would be more likely to catch my interest.

That said...I would love to have someone I could rely upon to help me from time to time. The trick to getting my business would be to convince me that you do quality research. You would have to go far beyond Wikipedia, provide sources/links and provide a product that is worth my investment. I would also have to know, ahead of time, how much it would cost me to hire you. In other words, I would have to know that you wouldn't cost me more than I'm being paid to use your service and that I wouldn't have to do my own research anyway.

I would probably only use a service such as yours for specific details. General research, as Senobia has already said, is best done by the writer to learn the business they are writing about.

Good point YMC - citations are vital - proof of the validity of the research.

    Greetings again,

I appreciate all of your repies, and especially YMC's suggestions for modifications of my U.S.P.

With regard to concerns raised by YMC and PassGoSEO, please note that I would not just search Wikipedia. (I myself do not find Wikipedia very trustworthy as a stand-alone source.) My research would be done using Google, and other search engines, such as Bing, will often make use of specialty tools, such as Google Scholar and Google Books Search, as well as popular sites (such as HowStuffWorks.com), and more specialized sites (such as InvestorsBusinessDaily.com), depending on what may be relevant. Again, I would deliver comprehensive, but *relevant* results.

With regard to issues raised by Senobia and YMC, the results would be submitted on a "Research Deliverable Document," which would be an MS Word document that has copies of all of the relevant results, accompanied by their URL's in case the copywriter wishes to check any webpage for him/herself.

As far as pricing is concerned, I am still in the process of considering that.

If anyone has any further suggestions and criticisms, I would appreciate them.

Thank you again for your comments!
