    Hello,

I run a gaming network and a small hosting company.

However sometimes users after giving them the services, they put claim and I receive chargeback. I gave to paypal info such as business, invoice pdfs, legal agreement, bills, faxes, but I always loose them.

How can I protect against such things? For example I sold to one user some hosting in september 18 th and he added chargeback in december.. and I lost all money :(

Thanks for taking time in helping me and Merry Christmas to all of you!

You need to provide proof of physical delivery to win the case and only if both your country and the customer's country falls in the list of countries which Seller's Protection is enabled.

It might be a better idea to use some other payment processor other than Paypal if you want a higher level of protection.

you cannot do anything since you cannot provide any proof for sending the item to your customer... dont use paypal... i lean it by hard way... use money booker www.MoneyBookers.com. no reversal or chargeback are allowed... stop losing your money...

But dear i suppose moneybooker does not allow direct payment to merchant from customer.
CUSTOMER need to signup for the accnt ...>> add credit card.....>verify......>fund moneybooker accnt.....>paythe merchant.

OMG!!!! such a long procedure for customers.

Correct me if i am wrong..

But still safe as ppl say no charge backs ..

Provide proof it was a physical good, If you read the PayPal TOS, they cannot protect you unless it is a physical good!

Demand they give you proof of the debt, tell them not to contact you until they can.

I think these chargebacks are from Credit Card Companies. Either you should win as all of your services looks like intangible. Try using 2Checkout for credit card payments. Its really rare anyone won a CC chargeback in Paypal.

    Eh, that sucks.
I spent two hours one time writing an article for a person.
A day after receiving the payment, they fired a chargeback.
They're a scammer and now banned from DP (but I won't reveal the username).
Paypal is completely ignoring me about this claim, and I doubt I'll get my money back.

Yes, I wrote a big disclaimer, welcome guide as PDF Formats.

Also I tried giving each user a PDF invoice with the amount paid and when we delivered virtual items.

But I lost the claims to my unfortunate.

with moneybookers its just as simple as paypal ( user enters credit card details and payment info and then they choose username/password for registration ) . so its quick.

Paypal are scam artists , avoid them if you can

You should look into getting a real merchant account.

Disputes don't make PayPal money and it forces them to actually have to investigate/research complaints. That costs them money. Since hiring people to handle complaints would cost money, PayPal simply gives the money back to the buyers. Sellers are basically screwed.

If you have a solid case to back up your claims for money, file a complaint with your state attorney general. Give the attorney general copies of all the info to back up your claim. If they get enough complaints, maybe the states will force PayPal to invest some money and staff to adequately investigate/research disputes.

When I sold dedicated servers, one of the things that I did was to send an invoice and welcome letter via certified mail. That seemed to help us with the PP chargebacks.

however dishonest it may be, you have to claim that you shipped them tangible goods and provide a tracking for their same general city or state, otherwise if its virtual you lose because paypal API marks it as goods by default.

If that's a decent amt over 100, then you can ask the buyers to send paypal funds using www.xoom.com , u can receive the cheques directly to ur bank account in ur local cuurency with in a few days, and u can deliver the service/product after confirmation/clearing of the cheque.. to the best of of knowledge , paypal funds received thru xoom can't have a charge back.. check out if xoom is available in ur country.. it costs 10 $ per transaction upto $500, but then its safe, when it comes to accepting payment thru paypal.. all the best
