I’m totally new to the affiliate game and have been reading a lot in the past couple of weeks about affiliate marketing, PPC etc. I would like recommendations regarding what my first ClickBank product should be (I intend to promote it via PPC initially). I’m hoping to find a product that will encourage me to continue on my path to becoming an internet marketer but you can imagine how overwhelmed one can get when just getting into this business. In the same regard, do you think ClickBank is the place to start or is there a better affiliate center suited for a newbie like myself?
I think there are definitely better places to start than clickbank, personally. the big affiliate centers (cj, linkshare, clickbank) tend to have a lot of competition. you're definitely the most likely to get nice results with a private affiliate program-- translates to less competition which in turn means lower CPC which means a higher ROI.
Thanks for your reply. Could you point me in the direction of a recommended private affiliate program? When you say “private†do you mean set up by a smaller affiliate center or a program where I work directly with a merchant without an affiliate center?
I mean one that runs an in-house program, without going through an affiliate center. even the smaller affiliate hubs / management companies may have their advantage though. there are private affiliate programs for just about everything under the sun. find something you want to promote and do some digging.
search google for "product" + "affiliate program" replace "product" with what you might like to promote
Look for something in a fairly obscure niche and just start experimenting. If you have some money to play with this is easier, but you can still find good ones on a tight budget. I have some sites making an average of probably $25 a day each through clickbank that cover what anyone else would think were totally unprofitable topics. In my experience, the more you products you try, the better your chances of finding a good one. It may sound obvious but I've personally wasted a lot of time on unprofitable sites that I wish I had spent just dipping my toes into a more diverse set of markets... after a while you'll find some good ones.
I'm also just getting started with Adwords, and I've got a related question. Where exactly is the advantage with a smaller/less known affiliate program if we're competing with the big affiliates for the same keywords? Is the idea to discover a niche/product with keywords that no one else wants? Thanks for the good advice on this thread.
Often the money comes at the end of the tail....lesser known keywords that the big guys are not promoting. This is harder than it sounds but can be lucrative.
I am new into this CLICKBANK too. But i think there is a lot of potentiol and a lot of money to be made but at the end of the day its all about promoting the right people and of course numbers game. I think its only of course that simple?
how do you find a niche? look for sites with lower gravity in the clickbank marketplace. how do you learn about internet marketing? read webmaster boards, trial+error, and FREE resources.
I Also think so. The most popular keywords of the product with high competition is hard to enforce. Reasonably less popular speech and with ensuring high sales of the gravity YOU may cut of from cakes from other parties than the big players do.
If you are just beginning, AdWords isn't a a best place to start. Look for less competitive niches, otherwise you will be frustrated with the lack of results.
The only disadvantage with Adwords is that if you're a beginner you might have to loose a couple thousands to make a campaign profitable. If then... It requires lots of testing (You have to know your niche from inside out) and that takes several months and even years.
