Hello Forum Friends: I like to thank you for reading my post. I have this question that relates to how often we should change on the homepage. I read on this forum that we need to make some changes on the homepage so that SEO can index our homepage as search engines see new content and new design. 1. How often should we change the design on the homepage? 2. How often should we change the content on the homepage? 3. How often should we reuse the content on the homepage? the reason i ask this question is because I saw one big article directory owner usually approve my articles after I submitted for about 4 or 5 months. Big thanks.
You don't "have" to change the content on any pages (including the home page) in order to have the search engines rank your pages well. Search engines do like fresh, updated content but NOT necessarily in the form of modifying existing pages. In fact I would advocate NOT modifying existing pages that already rank well unless it's to make very minor fine-tuning optimizations. The best form of "fresh" content for your site should be in the form of NEW pages on your site. If every time Google returns to crawl your site they find lots of new pages, they will crawl your site more and more frequently. Adding new content doesn't affect the rankings of existing pages, it affects the crawl frequency of your site. By adding new pages on your site, you have the opportunity to target more and more keyword phrases since each page gives you a new set of on-page SEO factors like <title>, <h1>, <h2>s, content, keyword rich URL, etc. The home page is really the one exception. Home pages tend to change naturally over time anyway because sites typically are spotlighting products of the month, new articles, etc. for users to drive traffic to different parts of the site. But again, if your home page is ranking well already, I wouldn't make major changes to it's content... only minor changes.
