The shit slinging about who listens to what has already begun prior to this even being installed. I just hope threads won't be dragged off-topic continuously due to people arguing about what the other person is listening to!

I'm not sure on this one to be honest. Yeah it's cool from a functionality point of view but how is it relevant to this community? The blog entry enhances our position as online "pro's" but knowing what we all listen to right then borders on privacy issues IMO. I know you can opt out of course...

 

Ok, that is very clever.
As far as practical use.. in here I dont see it (other than the novelty factor, or if there is a way to have a referral commission - I dont know if there is an Itunes scheme or anything).

But for music forums and collecting user listening habits etc.. the value would be uncountable. If I was Apple I would buy it right now. The forums top 100 charts ? demographic info, referral commissions, there is an unlimited amount of potental.

Now, if you could make something that showed me what other pages in here others are looking at.. that i would like alot.

There will be off topic conversation, that is for sure, I know at least I will be tempted to get off-track. Maybe a DP chat should be next, an instant messaging system where private convos can be taken somewhere else and no threadjacks occur. But then again: what people love about digitalpoint is the fact that you can talk about other things than just search engine robots. I think that is the vibe that should be kept alive and gowing and growing

Yea, I'd participate. Be a lot more of a 'personal' feel to it....although I hope it wouldn't rape my connection bandwidth I have 'real' work to do too

Actually it's already possible. In the avatar area, point the avatar to a image on your own webserver, assuming your webcam s'ware can output correctly/update images....

Oh right, from looking at it I assumed it pulled the image from your server......Never had a avatar on here, so im not sure.

 

If that is indeed the case it would need some hacking by Shawn.

However you could put a pic in your signature I suppose....included from another server....?
