There are 2 ways to get a Sedo auction running.

    A) Once you receive a bid for your domain, you can choose to either sell it to the party that bid OR you can send it to a 7 day auction IF you think you can get more for the domain. Once the auction is over, if the highest bid is the one you sent it to auction with (say $60) then you MUST accept that offer for the domain, minus Sedo's commission

    OR

    B) In your Sedo control panel, check the box of the domain you wish to send to an instant auction and use the drop down box at the bottom of the panel and choose APPLY FOR AUCTION. This will alert a broker at Sedo that you want to throw your domain in to the auction cycle -- be sure you have set a reserve if you want one although Sedo may suggest one. Note, getting accepted for an auction without a bid is VERY RARE and is worth calling Sedo on the phone to convince them to push your name into the auction.

In fact, I've got my Canadian domain REMIX.CA in an instant auction so you can see what it looks like without an opening bid.

Check Sedo's commission chart for their fees on brokering and escrow before making your decision so you don't end up spending more on fees than the value of your domain.

    Good Luck!! :)

Thanks, I also wanted to know that - I have had domains sitting there for ages waiting for bids so that I could push to auction

I promoted one of my domains with a category showcase. I paid 14eur for a listing at the top of my category in the USA and in the UK (9eur for first country , 5eur for every one after). This has brought a lot of extra traffic to my Sedo listing, and I am averaging about 20 views per day in it. It's probably worth investing in this to get your domain noticed if you have a good one, this may help you get your intial bid.

There's about 11 million domains at Sedo, so you really have to make yours stand out from the crowd to get decent traffic.

Just for the record, I still haven't sold the domain that I put in the showcase... Take that as a word of warning ;)
