I am thinking of buying a security certificate for my site. Will installing this certificate effect anything with my SE ranking? Anything i should know before I do this?

    Thanks in advance

Use SSL only for pages that passes sensitive data e.g. credit card number, login info etc.

IMO, it will not affect your SE Rankings.

The ssl will only affect your checkout pages. These pages usually are not important to SEO effeorts.

I recently got an SSL certificate for my store to promote confidence in my store.

As a consequence my ISP had to give me an IP address, where previously I was sharing an IP address with other users, other customers of my ISP.

I'm not exactly sure (technically speaking) why I needed a new IP address.

However, from an SEO point of view having your own IP address, suggests to google that your prepared to buy an IP address and your business is worth it.

My ISP told me some time ago than a customer of his had got an SEO company to improve their site and getting their own IP address was a change they made.

    HTH
