This is my second release of my social content website, Grupl. Yes, this site is similar to Digg in many ways, but it is better in the most important aspect, users can join groups to determine which stories are displayed on their homepage. Please let me know your thoughts, all comments welcome! http://www.grupl.com
Roger - Thanks for the post, redoing the logo was one of the items suggested from the last go round. We used a freelance website to get it redesigned.
I like the idea of the site. for the border in your content area, I would make another line down the right side (there's only one on the left side right now and it looks kind of weird)
Great logo, very nice section placement, very clean body section. The only thing that disturbs me is the bright background. Maybe use a very bright skyblue? how do you think about it?
Wow, I really like the design of the site! You have only one issue with XHTML validation. It's great that you declare the page as XHTML 1.0 Trans., but you must remember to escape your Ampersands! So, instead of: You & I like cake Code (markup): You should write: You & I like cake Code (markup): Taken from HTML Specs:
Thanks for all the feedback so far. When we launched a test site, everybody hated the design! So we focused on getting that together. I agree the background may be too harsh and will try to find some color to put back there. As for the Ampersands, that is on our list of TODO items. The entire site was coded/designed by my partner and myself (except for the logo). Thanks for all the comments, keep them coming!
As people viewing this site for the first time, is it obvious that joining groups will personalize the stories that are shown on your home page? I think this is a crucial aspect to the site, but may not be conveyed correctly.
I thought it was good looking. The color of the numbers kind of bothered me though. They were a little too light. Maybe something a little darker might be better.
