Second best directory for article submissions and backlinks?

OK, which article directory would you say comes in 2nd. to Ezine for getting backlinks to your site. Some directories have a high PR, but are no follow, so there is not much there for link juice.

    What is your second best?

Yes, directory submission is not effective for your SEO. Although some websites which allow you to submit directory have high page rank, but there are no follow, and you do not know whether you have submitted successfully or not.

In my opinion, article submissions are much better. Some article submission website do not need review and some will moderate your article within 1-2 days. After review, your article will be posted immediately.

I guess articlebase. With ezine taking so long to approve articles I've heard many people shift to articlebase. They usually approve an article in 24-48 hrs.

Also, some have noticed good rankings with that articlebase.

If you are looking for backlinks then the 2nd will be goarticles, 3rd will be amazines.

Talking about article base, it can bring you lots of traffic like ezine articles, but the directory is no follow,
All these three directories are good, but for backlinks goarticles will work, and for traffic, article base.

I would say goarticles, squidoo and hubpages are good to add content after ezine. Stumbleupon can be lucrative too if you design specific content for their readers...

I use goarticles, articlealley and articledashboard. Hard to choose a second-best among the three.

Can you please let me know how much time articlealley takes to accept an article? It is more than 48 hours now, still the articles are pending. I am sorry if I am asking out of context to this thread.

articlealley can take some time to get approved, but it's working quite well for my customers - one of them got 3,000 views in just a couple of months on not so great niche topics

In my personal opinion I think Buzzle is the best. They are really good about approving articles quickly. I have never had a problem with them. (knock on wood)

There are a lot of effective sites out there for article submission. One might be more effective for one article, and another for another. Frankly, it can be a mistake simply to submit an article to one directory and leave it at that. No matter how relatively effective one directory or another is, the fact remains that you will get more results the more directories you submit to.

At Content Crooner we practice article marketing automation -- basically submitting an article to as many directories as possible. It's a no-lose proposition, and you don't really have to worry about which directory is best because you'll be in so many of them.

Great advice, thank you! I'm assuming that "get more results" = "get better results" as in better traffic to your site? I'm personally weighting the pros and cons of automated vs. manual article submission, and after what you've said, I won't hesitate to go automated.
