SearchSight? ExactSeek? SearchHippo? Gigablast? SearchSwap? EntireWeb? Altavista?

    Hello!

I'm sure you know of the search engines listed below:
    - SearchSight
    - ExactSeek
    - SearchHippo
    - GigaBlast
    - SearchSwap
    - EntireWeb
    - AltaVista

They have been on the internet for YEARS; I believe all are at least 3-5 years old and oddly enough, they're some of the biggest secondary search engines on the internet.

Through the past 5 years, I've must have owned a few hundred to thousand websites that have all been featured in search engines, including the ones listed above. But strange as it may seem, although I'm listed in the above search engines, I have never gotten a visitor from one of them, nor heard of any webmasters getting visitors from them.

I know that each one of the search engines are big, maybe not nearly as big as Google or MSN, but I'd expect a visitor or two from each of them - wouldn't you?

Has anybody ever gotten a visitor from any of the search engines listed above? Hell, I've never even gotten a visitor from DogPile. Google, MSN, and Ask Jeeves is where it seems to be. Yahoo! was doing good a little bit earlier in the year 2005, but its results seem to be slacking for many of my sites. I haven't gotten a visitor from Yahoo! in...I'd say...6 months?

Mama.com search engine; I'm going to guess trackers pick it up as Ask Jeeves since it is owned by them. But, still, have any of you ever got a single hit/visitor from any of the search engines listed above?!

I get visitors from Exactseek, altavista, dogpile & gigablast. Not many, just 5-10 every month.

I get traffic from AltaVista and DogPile. Not as much as the others of course, but still some every week. This is pretty much the order of them as far as the traffic they send for me...

    Google
    Yahoo
    MSN
    Altavista
    AOL
    Dogpile
    Search.com
    AllTheWeb
    Netscape
    ilse
    Virgilio
    Overture/Goto
    Eniro
    MetaCrawler
    Tiscali
    Seznam
    ixquick
    BBC
    Mamma
    InfoSpace
    WebCrawler
    Excite
    T-Online
    AskJeeves
    Kvasir
    Fireball
    Voila

Like I said, most of the search engine traffic I get comes from the top three, but I do still get some from all of these others each week.

Other than the big three I got the occasional visitor from Dogpile. Not much else from search engines. Every once in a blue moon I might get a lost soul who finds me through metacrawler or altavistas, or the others.

I get about 10 hits a month from dogpile, a bit less from alltheweb, and a handful a month from ExactSeek, and Search123

You only 'think' you haven't got a vist from any others. Believe me, the big guns DO NOT get their results from the top of their hat. They get them from baby engines and directories where you are listed and hey, do you think for a sec they are gonna give credit to anyone else!?>>??

I tried guaranteed paid inclusions to Entireweb and ExactSeek - lost time...
Some traffic came from Mamma classifieds.

97.4% of our search engine traffic is from the Google, MSN, and Yahoo (in that order).

Well I guess the search engines of yesterday will always remain the search engines of yesterday. ISP search engines are getting a lot bigger and are more frequently used, huh?

Altavista used to be pretty popular. It was one of the revolutionary search engines that made a good algorithm for searching. I remember years ago it started to take off, looking like it was going to be #1... Don't know if it ever really was back then, but I'm kind of disapointed they have just slipped away, they had really good potential

I get traffic from alta vista. Never heard of the other ones.

Stupidest post I've read today. The big guns get their results from their own algo's. I doubt google goes to "search hippo" for results

Dammit. I hate getting sucked into threads that are a month old.

Hahahaha. It's okay as long as you're making a good point. :D

@bermudaviper: It's easy. Go to GigaBlast and add your URL. Feature might say its disabled but it's really not! :p
