SearchMe Will Shut Down on Saturday July 25th, 2009

    That sucks. I used it once when it first launched, it was a really cool SE. It's weird that they are just going to shut down rather they should have been looking for potential buyers.

    i've never actaully heard of it, but to be honest it looks pretty good but the results take way way way too long to load, and the ones i tried are outdated.

    I've used it many many years ago.

    Do you have a reference to them shutting down? I'm not able to find any, there's no mention on their site that I can see and they still have a lengthy "We're hiring" list on their site.

    As I said before - SearchMe is going away and as of today is you visit - www.searchme.com it is now being redirected to Google (very interesting).

    Well I wouldn't be at all surprised if Google decided to acquire SearchMe. Maybe they were able to sell it after all.

    2) I'm aware of the site closing down. I had asked for a link about the announcement of the site closing down.

    3) At the time, the site was still up. You'll note that if you read the thread that you post in.

    I did not have a link, just a personal email that told me what was happening and when, as I was very close to the search engine (in addition to all the others - Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask).

    I went to the site and it's now dead :( I tried it once I liked it's interface, it kinda reminded me of the Lycos, search though I thought better, such a shame for a 45M$:eek: start up. currently links redirect to google.com (maybe sold to them?) who knows :D
