Hi, Sequoia Capital, which has been a key investor of search giant Google (GOOG), as well as Yahoo, has recently launch a search engine with a difference, it is a visual search engine called as Searchme
This looks pretty cool as they have their own index and are using Adobe technology to provide the visual results. Unlike RedZee.com this engine may have a chance. Current index sits around 1 bullion indexed pages. This is small compared to Google, but they seem pretty serious about being a player. I wish them the best of luck!
I found it interesting. Only problem since the visual stuff can get pretty big (too the point where you can read the info on a page) it might deter people from actually visiting the site to get the information if it can be read legibly from the picture . . . i.e. possible loss of traffic = possible loss of revenue Though I doubt it will make a huge dent it still could have effects. But the idea looks great. Something unique and different will have to pop up to make people not choose Google. Any similar search engine to Google doesn't have a chance. Skinny
i like the visuals...i think you should be able to toggle between normal results and the visual results though...not everyone will want to click on an image...
THEN compiz-fusion + binding a keyto firefox://googleblablaq=keyworblabla is 10x faster and has 10x better visual results then this shit. Conc. : *nix owns : ) tho that might be a good engine for windows users
