Searching for VPS hosting

Hi DP friends,

I am searching for reliable VPS Linux managed/unmanaged hosting. I am currently using one in India, but support sucks and I am not really happy with that.

Any suggestions for offshore VPS hosting company?

If you are looking for VPS provider outside of India, there are dozens. What kind of service are you running? How much memory do you need? How much traffic are you getting?

 

First of all, targeted visitors will be from?

I recommend start the search form the advertising forums here on the forum. I have seen a lot of related offers there.

 

I would recommend Knownhost.com VPS because I have used their service. Their servers are very fast and support is great.

I went with HostGator VPS package just finished the transfer a few days. I highly recommend them they have very reasonable rates with excellent customer support.

 

Did you know that Hostgator has several backdoor issues where they will always try to monetize their clients traffic. Example when you install WP using HG they have a notice that includes the plugin which will be auto installed and at your WP blog footer there will be a link to HG. Though you can edit it they are very sly. Though as you have already choosen I wish you good luck

 

Yea I would not know about that I install my plugins and wordpress myself.

I hear alot of people have mixed feelings about HostGator but honestly for me I never had an issue with my server being down or contacting support.

I just did another support ticket last night for an issue I was having with mysql. They helped me every step of the way to show me how to do what I was wanting to do. That is the fifth support ticket I had this month and every single one was answered and solved quickly with their help. They even send the instructions to your email after they help you solve it so you can keep it handy for later use.

So yes I highly recommend them as far as support is concerned. Plus they are a US based company so the CSR's don't have heavy accents you can't understand.

I've used webfusion in the past and haven't had any problems, support was good and no problems with server downtime.

If you have some experience working with a Linux command line, and you don't mind being on an unmanaged server, I've heard good things about Linode.
