The other day i decided i was going to log in my Google account and then search a while for like 3 or 4 hours and i was searching for banking in Florida related keywords and when i saw my account it listed every website i visited and i was like cool but then a few hours later i was in a music related website and on there website there AdSense were displaying banks in Florida related ads so now i know why Google collects all that information on websites you visit when you are longed in the Google account, so when you go to a site that has AdSense it can display ads that are relevant to the keywords you were searching in the pass. I don't know if all of you knew this but for me its new, just wanted to let you guys know about it.

For me it's different. I got ads that are related to my country or has my country's name on it. Sometimes the ads aren't really that related to a website you're viewing.

Yeah, no. You got ads that are related to your geo location. For instance, I'm in Houston, so wherever I go, I see ads for "dating in Houston", etc. Or if I'm on a lasik website, I see ads for "Houston lasik", same with banking and etc. It's just coincidence that you saw ads for banks. It goes by your IP.

Are you sure it's that simple? I wonder...

Because G 'keeps track' of individuality in other ways- they track your search activity now and individualize search results, why not adsense displays? They're all about relevant results.

Another related thing- in adwords if you do broad matching, they use what they call 'expanded matches' which include all related forms of words, synonyms, even cities within states you bid on-

more importantly, they say that your expanded match results will vary as they learn what your ad is related to- so they're learning from how people react to ads...

why not personalize which ads they display to you?

seems to be the direction google is going

Yes. If it wasn't, this would be all over the news, especially in the more tech/geek forums. Those guys know everything google does to the nano second. If Google was going Big Brother on us, they would know.

Sometimes those news/forum guys are behind a few months. I've received things that claimed to be new that I knew about for some time.

All I'm saying is that google's demonstrating a tendency toward developing pseudo-AI algorithms to learn buying behavior... to increase relevance and also I'm sure to boost their income.

I don't think of it in a paranoid way (big brother)... I just think of it as increasing effectivness via personalization.
