Wiki appears first for me. It seems only right, cause IMO, google don't really have to do much SEO work to get traffic, it is probably mostly from direct traffic!
Different data centers shows different result. currently I check in three data centers, google.com have yahoo first google.co.uk have wikipedia first so different data center show different results. But wikipedia should be first according to me. Any ways.
Wiki is 3rd for me. The second is W3.org. I don't think that this keyword is important to ether side. Only about ~4K/day searches for "www".
I wonder if this is a case of a canonical issue, whereby google havent done their www redirect correctly thus brining up a correct page, like Yahoo Im gonna subscribe to this thread, im keen to hear some more thoughts daniel
according to google.co.in its www.w3.org/ and i think its far better then Yahoo because its title have full form of www ...
Another search I did a few days ago, which I also think shows Google as being "fair" with the results, is to do a search for the word ... Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=search Google don't rank in the top 10 for that keyword. They do however, use Adwords to advertise themselves for this search term Alex
at least they show something fair and i dont think google will target the keywords 'www' anyway orelse all keywords will have google on top.
for www in the uk i get bbc.co.uk yahoo.com w3.org bebo.co.uk wikipedia isnt even in the top ten just shows how the local searches really do change edit i just kept adding "w" after to see how the results changed search for this wwwwwwwww first site i see is this http://wwwwwwwww.jodi.org/ click it and see its F**ked up
