I'm going to guess that you are asking which search terms you should be writing your content for?

One answer is to pick terms that have enough traffic to interest you and that don't have results that are very optimized. Just do a search on the term and look at the sites and pages returned to see how much competition they will represent with respect to the SEO efforts needed to sneak your site into the list.

Another answer is to write about whatever you want, that you are interested in, and develop good and interesting content. Then, people will link to you and go to your site because you have something worthwhile and valuable to them.

A third answer may be to combine these, creating really good content or services and then writing about them while emphasizing certain related keywords that you can rank for and that also have some hope of pulling in decent revenue per click.

I like option number 3, and I'm working on that myself, but I have to admit that it's going to be a while before I'll be able to report whether or not it is working for me. This seems to take a fair amount of time -- at least if you are not simply grabbing crappy articles and republishing them on a junk MFA site.
